Nope. Nothing is overkill, not when you have Supreme Commander

It will perform the same on your cpu-bound resolution. Really only useful if you up the resolution.

I think is, you're better off getting a faster CPU and RAM.

Exactly, he's on socket 939 where we were promised 65nm CPUs and all sorts of BS.

939 is pretty damn expensive if you want to shop for new hardware. AMD screwed 939 users over when they went for AM2.

somewhere around 300 for both. But If someone could find me something cheaper and a better value than a X2 5600+ then that would be great.

you can get the 650i lga775 mobo for about 120ish, and the e6420 for 189 or the e6320 for 168, you'll be better served that way coupled with the 8800 gts.

The only reason I won't get the 650i is because of the PCI-E 8x speeds when in SLI. That board to me is a complete failure.

SLI is a failure in general, unless you're gaming at 25*16 what's the point?

the option is nice to have, and to get it cheaper with the 650i is not bad at all no? but yeah, usually the gpu makers will release a card that'll be faster than the previous generation's high-end in sli....

Yeah, think about it that 8x thing ..... what it would be like 2 frames or something?

and the best budget processor is the e6420 processor because u can overclock it way too far and it has the 4mb cache.
