Hi

I downloaded nTune and I am wanting to overclock my 8800GTX (ASUS version). It is at factory settings Core Bus = 576MHz and Memory Bus = 900MHz. What could I overclock to roughly with stock cooling installed. Also how big a step should I overclock?

What does fine tune do?

Also will the GeForce 9800 or whatever it is called be that much better than the 8800?

EDIT: Just want to ask. the new GeForce cards that are supposedly coming out in November support DirectX10.1 . Isn't that just an update, I guess the 8800 will support that?

Thanks

no one knows for sure if that 9800 stuff was legit. ill believe it when someone from nvidia says it. But id OC that 576 to 600 slowly up to no higher than maybe 620.

I have not overclocked yet and I am checking my GPU temp at idle = 72C. How it this? Look at this

http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/136207-official-8800gtx-gts-oc-thread.html

People are using air cooling and overclocking to 640MHZ core and 2200MHz memory on the same GFX card even there temps are cooler.

That's a very common problem until you turn the fan up.

Rivatuner is the easiest to run the fan on the GPU at 100% IMO. If you need directions just ask.

I can't find fan control on that. Is there a reason why my fan control is greyed out in nTune?

You should be able to set it at 610/950 and not see any artifacts. When I go higher than that I get some artifacts but they only show up using the shader model that is used for firefly forest in 3dmark06.

I've gone up to 630/1050 without any crashes but the artifacts are everywhere. Which reminds me of a question I have...I'll ask it in this thread and if it doesn't get answered I'll ask it in another one...

Does increasing the voltage to your PCI-E slot get rid of artifacts?

3dmark is a good tool to load up your card.
