How would they preforem and what is the best set up to go for??
ether use 1 or 2 of 8800GTX vs. 1 or 2 8800GT
so how would one 8800GTX work vs one 8800GT and 2x 8800GT
then 2x 8800GTX vs 2x 8800GT?

How much do you want to spend, and what kind of monitor/resolution will you be using?

lol thaats what im seeing too, dont SLi a GTX because at best you will see a 30-40 % increase in performance. just get one 8800GT and that should be alrite. when you SLI you never really see the performance increase you intended...[QUOTE="Fignewton50"]2x GTX > 2x GT > GTX > GT

I am not sure yet on how much to spend..
and my monitor is 19' inch
Well that's what you need to figure out. The best bang-for-buck would be the 8800GT. If you were using a bigger monitor or high resolutions, you could go for 2 of them. But you also need to look at your motherboard and PSU before buying anything.
I just ordered for the 8800GT the other day. Will be using 2 22" widescreen monitors running at 1680x1050 res. I may just run my old video card 7800GT 256MB in my 2nd PCI E slot for my other monitor/s.
I need to test and see if it cuts down performance any on your primary monitor when gaming if you are running two screens off the same card.

I am putting up new PC.. for about a week now .. I am looking eveywere..
on what parts better to chose..
so here is what I am up to so far
RAM, PSU, MOBO, CPU, Case, HardDrives, OS ( will use duel boot with XP Pro ) and heatsink
so.. now I am trying to figure out with which video card should i go..
finally found mine on Tigerdirect like last Saturday.. got the XFX Alpha Dog Extreme edition. I payed more then what I set out to pay for this card. But it seems to be going up in price with it being such a hot card. I wanted to get it while I still could the first chance I got I took it. I also get company of heroes for free :)Nekrid2003

2 GTs is better than one GTX, and it costs about the same.
[QUOTE="jollyriot2k1"]I'd find it hard to recommend going SLI on the GTX with the next high-priced flagship a couple months away...maximus_2
what?
The 8800GT is the baby of the next range of cards. The GTS is coming out soon and it will be followed by the high end version which should arrive jan-march ish. Whatever it is, will be guaranteed to wipe the floor with 8800GTXs, seeing as the 8800GT is basically on par with it already. Definately worth considering before basically doubling your cost to get 10-20% better performance....
I don't have the card yet, should be here tomorrow. My new antec nine hundred gaming case hopefully will make me proud. Heck if it doesn't perform temp wise as much as I'd like their are 2 more spots I can install 120mm fans for the GPU cooling. :PNekrid2003
Antec 900 FTW!

The 8800 GT is probably your best option. I've been watching it for a couple days and I checked every few hours just to be safe and I finally found it ($300 EVGA w/ Crysis). Just make sure to do this sooner rather than later because the price will most likely inflate.
If you don't want to do that, the Radeon 3870 is nice too, not quite as good but also a good bit cheaper.
yea.. sucks I payed a little over 300 for mine but I got a decent amount of games that I was holding off on playing until I got it. As hard as it is to get your hands on these i felt the extra money was worth it if I can have one before next year.. I would have rather got the EVGA SC edition with Crysis rather then XFX Extreme edition with Company of Heroes if I could do it over again but beggers can be choosers.. or whatever..
PS I'm reported that mine arrived at my house at 10:35am this morning while I am work. :)
