yea that should be enough i know that its like a 125 usage, unless you have dual monitors, loads of ram, an extremem AMD x2, loads of DDD's then you should be alrite.

To be fair, i was contemplating waiting for a high end 9 series..
but the 6600 im using now, i sold as a pair. but my freind kindly let me keep one untill i get my new gpu, so i can still use my rig.

so im gnna have to get a GPU now so i can give him the 6600 which he's already payed for.

im thinking if i can get a GTX/Ultra.. and a Athlon 64x2 6000+/6400+

il be sorted for a good while, il probably not upgrade my pc after that. id rather just build a new one in 2009 while im in college.

Well. If Nvidia keep their word than new high end cards will be out this year. Not to mention that they also sad that it will have power of around 1Tflop which is around 3 times more than 8800 Ultra. If that card came out whit that power and will "know" how to use that power than 9800 GTX (if i can call it soo) will rape 2x Ultras in SLI.

EDIT: BTW i though that PC in your sig is what you use. O, sorry. Just saw it says Soon to be in background. :D

i got my BFG 8800 Ultra Oc running on a 700w jeantech psu with 3 12v rails, 12v1= 18a, 12v2= 23a, 12v3= 18 an it easily runs it so you should be ok as my system only uses bout 300w maybe a bit more when playing a game

But you might wanna get a new cpu or oc it as it may bottleneck it

not only have they not said anything about a 9XXX series, they haven't even acknowledged the cards' existence.

You have a X2 6400+ ?LahiruD

The x2 6400+ hasn't been released yet, my sig says Soon To Be..
Since im not planning on upgrading my current comp to an entirely new platform, (because il be building a fresh rig in '09)
i thougt it would be cool to get the best X2 their is..
Yes i know that my mobo will be compatable with X4, but im not really bothered tbh.

I would get a 768mb 8800GTX instead of the ultra. seems you get more bang for buck. the ultra is kind of expensivestorjohan_

The Ultra i would be getting is the stock XFX. Its £411, only £57 more than the stockXFX 8800GTX.

Sorry, Not interested in the HD2900XT.
An OC'd GTX Isnt That Much Cheaper than the Stock XFX 8800Ultra and as far as i know, you cant OC the Stream Processors.

I need to buy my GPU now, as i said before, the Card im currently using i've already sold to a freind, and its unfair to make him wait till the *9800GTX* is released.
Plus, im eager to get back into playing my games at max graphics flawlessly, this 6600 SUCKS!

The PC im using now is a athlon 64x2 4200+ @ 2.7Ghz, 2Gb DDR2 7900GS system.
Except i sold the 7900 3 months ago (i thought id get an 8series way before now, but overestimated mymoney status.

Thanks for the input guys, much apreciated!

I agree, if you can afford an Ultra and you want it, buy it
If you could afford an Ultra you will be able to afford a 9800 something so if you got cash why not enjoy? why wait? even if its a "waste" its the best card right now and if you got cash for it go for it, give a damn if everyone else say its a waste, they allwish they had one

Dont listen to people, if you got the money buy it, but if your going to get a Ultra get a really Overclocked one, because if your getting a stock Ultra its really not that much faster than a GTX.

nearly £500 for a graphics card
if/when i buy an ultra im pretty sure i'd pass out at somepoint..

the stock ultra is only £411 whereas the stock 8800GTX is £354 (both are XFX models..)
their must be some difference in speed their..?

I recommend to also try to get 24" LCD for Ultra. It would be such a waste having 8800 Ultra on 19" LCD. (personal experience whit GTX). IMO its better to play games on medium to high settings on BIG LCD, than on max settings on small monitor.

¬_¬

i already have the 22" Asus in my sig..
i dont think a ultra would be a waste for 1680 because even though a GTS can handle that res.. the Ultra/GTX will cope with games for longer.. if you get my point..

and btw.. the SOON TO BE.. in my sig.. doesnt mean soon to have that comp.. ive already built it.. its just il be upgrading it soon.

Remember your paying for that power. Its not going to get any cheaper. Help the enviroment a bit and get an 8800GTS at most
