Looks like EA finally broke down and decided to release Sims 3 thru Steam. Although... looks expensive to me at 90 bucks.

I don't know, you get all the major currently released content. Guess it depends on how much you think you'll enjoy the expansions.

What the hell! Just a few days ago I said I would have liked to see the Sims on Steam (that's cool I guess) but at 90 bucks? Hell no. I wonder if EA will drop everything down in price come the next sale. Mass Effect 2 was out around this time last year, wasn't it going for 10 bucks during the Christmas sale?

It's expensive to me, but for someone who'd buy all the expansions anyways, it's pretty cheap.

My rough cheap-ass personal guide is, $20 is too much for one game; $35 for a Ultimate/Gold Bundle type package (like the game in question); and $50 for developer/publisher pack. I make exceptions though (like for SC2, I paid $60 day 1 of release). So yes.... it would be too much for me.

Actually, I really want to visit Australia - it's probably in my top 3. The game prices make me sad so :( lol Of course, it depends too on the cost of living there; if food, rent, transportation etc... is cheaper there, I could definitely increase my gaming budget :P... that's assuming I move there, not just visit.

Come on over, we can have gaming days at my house....lol Cost of living as you put it: Australia is one of the most expensive countries to live in in the world....specially places like Sydney. (and the wages aren't going up to compensate). Yes yes, there are many who would just say to me "buy the game online", but I love walking into a shop and buying it like the old days...

Considering how much the Sims 3 and all the expansions go for separately, it's actually quite a steal. At least I think it is, anyway. It makes me glad that I haven't bought any of the expansions yet.

Actually this is apparently sale price. I think this pack won't last because if you look at it is says "1 week - Complete pack sale". That almost seems like the pack will disappear after the week, which may or may not be true.

I think you fail to understand what some people are going nuts over. They are going nuts over the fact that just this game with its expansion at their cheapest cost $90 (which I would like to point out is only $10 than every Valve game...). Obviously they can buy each game separately or only the base game if they chose to. But the entire cost of Sims 3 seems a little high when say compared to the Bethesda pack which includes 3 separate games and each games expansions / dlcs for $20 less.

That's cheap considering EA likes to sell Sims expansions like they're full games.

Understand completely those other games with expansions..Some are over 10 years old..If you look at dao an other type games with expansions and dlc..Its equivlant to the sims packs..Dao is 70 bucks thats not for any expansions at all..40k 2 with expansions is about 140 all games..So ya i think i understand completely..Thats a steal what every one else said..90 bucks for 3 type games base an expansions..

Only you can answer that TC. I mean if you think you will get enjoyment and a good amount of time out of it, I say sure. I mean you get a pretty decent amount of stuff.

considering EA sells sim xpaks for nearly full game retail prices, yes its worth $90 purely from a monetary perspective.. Obviously the value factor is if you like the sims or not.

"Requires the base game The Sims™ 3 on Steam in order to play."

It says that you need the Steam version of Sim3 to use the expansions....

I think, I'm just going to wait for another sale. I got tons of Steam games already that I have bought and have yet to play...

I think if you really enjoy it, sure, its worth the price. That is a whole bunch of content, and frankly theyre offering it at a technically-awesome discount (like half off, right?)

but imo the game is old, and the expansions were cranked out so fast and likely did not require much effort (a bunch of interns problably did half the work for 7 bucks an hour lol), and given the fact we saw better deals for better game packs not more than a month ago during the Steam Holiday Sale, I dont think it is worth it.

After the original game, The Sims franchise has been a huge ripoff. Tons of content was left out of The Sims 2 just because girls addicted to Sims will pay for the expansion packs anyway. Don't you find it a bit weird that both The Sims and The Sims 2 got vacation expacks? What about all the item packs? Usually PC games get that stuff for free made by modders.

Well, it's originally $180 if you buy them separate. You're getting them for 50% off. I don't know why you're complaining.
