they have a 4200 in stock at tiger direct for 130
ill be able to get that in like 2 weeks
should i go for it?
I was in the same situation with my 3500+. I finally went for a X2 3800+ when I saw a Manchester for under $100 OEM. If you are overclocking, then that is the way to go in my opinion. Newegg has them for $95 and I doubt they'll for much lower ($10 at most). If you wanted higher end stuff then I don't know what to tell you. They really only have 3800's and Opterons in right now. The prices on the Opterons aren't bad, but they aren't great either. Tough situation.Karl_Bebop
Opterons perform just like the Toledos (X2s). Theirs hardly any difference between the chips except for the extra cache in the Opterons. Also Opterons over clock very well.

Right. That's what I meant. Compared to the prices newegg had on the Toledos, the Denmark prices are just so so. They used to have 4400's for about $180. Now you would settle for .2Ghz less.
AMD had officially stopped manufacturing new 939 chips since they've switched over to Socket AM2 for their entire desktop product line.codezer0
I've got a 939 myself, so I'm gonna wait a bit before I upgrade...
Mainly because I heard the AM2 architecture is not actually any faster than the 939 architecture. Right now, anyway.
Anyone know if that's true?

Not true but it isn't much of a difference, definitely in the single digits of a performance increase.

Correct, the AM2 architecture is running up to par with the S939 speeds, but it starts to advantage from the extra headway the socket and pin layout offers from now on.They completely stopped making 939 processors late in 2006... all of the stuff we see for sale is just trickling down through the retail channels. But when they're gone, they're gone for good.MakariTrue, with auctions sites being the last resort once the last production day has been long gone.
in a couple months?tigerballer
Never. They have stopped making them and obviously most places have sold all they have. Checking ebay regularly is about your only chance.
My Boss is in Singapore right now and I'm going to ask him to look for some at SimLim. If he finds any maybe I will have him buy them all and I will sell them on eBay. But thats a long shot.
I'll sell you my 4400+ X2 OC'd to 2.6GHz...lol Blazzin_0ne
The CPU would not still be OCed when he got it! Unless you sold him the board its in too with all the settings intact.
And Tigerballer, you shouldn't pay much for a used CPU thats been OCed most of its life!
