I am upgrading my computer soon, and I am not sure which of these two cards I should get. My budget for my video card is around $100, and the 9600GT is a little bit cheaper than the 8800. I am also aware the the 9600 is slower than the 8800GT, but I game at a 1024x768, and I am not an AA whore. I guess my question is whether or not I will see a difference in performance between these cards at this resolution. Most online reviews of the cards don't even test at 1024x768 (apparently this is a too low of a resolution these days). Anyone have any advice?

I own a 9600GT and a 8800GTS the FPS difference is very small, 5FPS at max. You won't notice a difference in any of the current games out unless your playing crysis on high.

8800GTS

Cheap with rebate.

9600GT

Best one I could find for price.

I had a similar dilemma recently with the same budgeted amount ($100). Couldn't get a 9600GT or 8800GT locally for anything under $150. Couldn't get either from Tiger Direct or New Egg without having to do the "mail in rebate dance". Settled on the Palit Radeon HD3850 SUPER for $89.99 with a $10.00 Mail in rebate (brings it to $79.99). That probably doesn't help you if you are stuck on having an NVidia card. I couldn't find a good deal for either NV cards.
