Well my birthday is coming up and I've decided on getting a new graphics card. My price range however leaves me right in the middle of an epic war. The 9800 GTX+ and the HD4850 are basically neck-in-neck in the benchmarks, so I thought to myself I would determine this by getting which ever was the cheapest.

These where my results

9800 GTX+

That's right, another tie. Even the games included are a tie since I've wanted them both for a while.

To sum it up, I have until Wednesday to choose a card, and since I see no difference, I want you to help me. Any input or experiences with any of these cards will be GREATLY appreciated.

World at War is terrible. Played through the first few levels and was neither as engaged nor impressed as when I played COD4. All Treyarch did was incorporate COD4 graphics with COD2 gameplay.

That being said, I chose the HD 4850 for my system because:

1. It requires one PCI 6-pin, not two.

2. Less expensive, just as good.

3. Takes up much less space.

I use THIS card. It has all of these qualities...

My 9800GTX (non +) outperforms my HD4850 by a long shot. NVIDIA is always the safer bet.GodLovesDead

Palit non-sonic version is also very cool (compared to other 4850's) but I believe it is dual slot. Which brings me to ask- does the size of the graphics card (dual or single slot) affect its chances of 'crossfiring'?

Both of those videocard looks overpriced compared to the HIS 4870, priced @ $164.99 (not including rebate).

If I'm not mistaken, the HD4870 it's shorter than the 9800GTX+.

I think the 9800GTX it's 10.5 inches.

There's a simple way to find the lengths of video cards.

And if your 9800GTX is outperforming your 4850, you are doing something wrong or the card is defective!

more games are Nvidia optimised, the cards generally look better and more well put together, Call of duty 5 is much mroe expensive that R6V2(you could buy for 20 new)

and I trust PNY brand alot more than I trust MSI for video cards
