Which card is better suited for some gaming? I'm planning to upgrade my 9500GT.

Can the 9800gt or HD5670 play modern games well? I have a 500W PSU.

you'd want to get more of an upgrade than that. the 5770 is fairly cheap and gives alot of bang for the buck. and your psu will be good enough for it.

Those are out of my budget. My only option is the 9800GT or the HD 5670.

well then just get the 5670, especially if it's cheaper. they're both pretty much the same power wise, but hte 5670 uses less power and less heat.

Considering that the 9800GT is an old card now, you will get it for cheap (Ithink?). But the 5670 is relatively new so the price will be higher with no performance benefit.

I saw some benchmarks showing the 9800GT having more fps in some games. But some also show the 5670 having more fps.

I also learned the 9800GT only has dx10 while the 5670 DX 11.

any of those cards will be good for what you want. If you don't care about dx11 then get the 9800gt. If you do then get the 5670. They are both similar power wise, with the 9800gt being slightly stronger BUT the 5670 uses less power, has better features.

The GTS 250 is just a refresh of the 9800GTX which is only 10-15% better then a 9800GT. But $65 for a 9800GT is a good deal.

Do get the GTS250. I have one and I upgraded from a 8500GT. So worth it at this price. The GTS250 is a refresh of the 9800GTX+ as far as I remember. I play on 1920x1080 and its doing a great job, but I use DX9.

I made a mistake earlier, the GTS 250 and GTS 450 are comparable. I'd go for the 450 if you decide to go that route...

And yeah, if they basically cost the same then that's even better.

well obviously, the GTS450 has DX11 support. But those low-end and mid-range card will not be able to run DX11 features anyway so its just a waste. If they are in the same price range then go for the GTS450, although I have not seen benchmarks for it. If not, get the GTS250 but make sure its the 1GB version if you play on high resolution.

The native res of my monitor is only 1360 x 768. its only 18.5" 'samsung'. But still, I'm getting the 1GB DDR5 version of the GTS 450. Is Inno3d a good brand?

5670 is considerably slower than 9800GT which in turn is considerably slower than GTS 250 which again is slower than GTS 450.
