would this be sufficiant to run a 9800gtx+? im upgrading my graphics card and i know my 300w psu wont handle the gtx.

also if it means anything i also have an intel E4500 core2 duo and 2 gig ram.

thanks

Personally I would spend a bit more money on a reputable brand.

850w is more than enough. anything above 500w is enough for the 9800GTX+

but whether Titan PSU's are any good or not is another matter. I've never heard of them.

I'd have a look at Corsair, OCZ, PC Power & Cooling, or Antec instead

MTBF 50,000 hours at 25℃

Now that would be good if it was at a higher temperature. I wouldn't buy that. Get a good brand such as corsair, they have a 5 year warranty and last a long time.

Combined amps on the two +12v rails is only 29a, that's not good enough.

well i dont really want to pay too much over $100 for a powersupply.

are there any that i can get in australia under $100 that will be able to handle to 9800gtx+?

Hi I have a OCZ StealthXStream 600 watt supply. I don't know if it's available

to you. The supply is nearly 2 years old and has run an Nvidia 7900GS, and later

an ATI HD 3870. It is now running an ATI HD 4870. This supply is very stable,

has a large fan which helps take air out of your case.

^^ that's the one i use

i'd recommend it

EDIT - worth noting however, that the early releases of that PSU only come with one PCI-E power connector. you need two of those to power most 9800GTX+ cards
luckily, the one I got had two PCI-E power leads, which was odd but nice. i just assume that's standard with newer models.

Hi Well looks like the OCZ 600 watt is a bit beyond what you want

to spend. http://www.pricespy.com.au/pno_4679.html

alrighty then :) its only like $130 delivered so thats not too bad, just as long as im not throwing away money on the 9800gtx+.

i might look around at prices of others..

with the other brands of psu you mentioned earlier.. are any of those ones (above 500w) pretty well good enough to run it?

my OCZ has two pci e connectors, however i have the EVGA 9800GTX+ superclocked and it seems to be a newer model with a shorter design and only one PCI E connector port :)

adzobren44

I don't think the power requirements differences between brands will be much as they are using the same gpu chips or technology. Also I heard this power supply is not good for overclocking if you intend to do it. Besides, my running system is:
C2D E8400
Gigabyte EP43-S3L
3gb ddr2 800mhz Adata Extreme Ram
320gb hdd
9800GTX+
DVD-RW rom
3x120mm fans, 1x90mm fan and 2x80mm fans and two cold cathodes

I always play games for few hours and is stable all the time. :)

If you are asking whether is enough for a gtx 275, It would be a yes. Real Power series is better than the Extreme Power series.

I think it shouldn't be any problem running only a single gtx275. Even a single gtx280 wouldn't use up so much power to 520w under load.
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3340&p=2

The link about shows the system with a gtx280 cosumes about 313W under load while the 9800GTX+ is only 264W. Also my PSU is 70% efficiency, which means it will only support 322W but I still got plenty watts to spare. If I'm not wrong, Real Power Series efficiency is about 81%, which is about 421.2W for a labeled 520W PSU.

Besides that, I think the total Ampere for the +12V rail is more important than the labeled power. For me If they are 36A and above, it shouldn't be a problem.

Well, This is my understanding about PSU and I might not be 100% correct. :D. If you plan to upgrade both of your PSU and GPU after this, I think you can just get the GPU and try out first. If your system is not stable then you just change the PSU to the higher ones.

At least I'm not the one that felt annoyed,:). For the coolermaster one, you can read the review from the url below.
http://www.techenclave.com/reviews-and-previews/cooler-master-extreme-power-plus-460w-111983-gars4.html

For the one you posted (OCZ), of course it would be a better option if it is within your budget and I also recommend it for further system upgrade later. I think the PSU is the most worth thing to invest in a PC as it won't be outdated like other hardwares in short period of time (especially the graphic card). lol

Hi Just a reminder. When you install the card don't forget the 6 pin

PCI-E power connector that goes on the end of the card. By the way,

do you know about the Nvidia GTS 250 card? From what I understand,

it's basically a 9800GTX+ that is smaller and takes less power. It might

even be less money to purchase.

oh yeah i totally forgot about the GTS 250!

the 9800GTX+ is a great card, but yeah i'd actually get the GTS 250 instead if i were you. pretty much the same performance (in fact it's marginally better), at a lower cost, and uses less power.

By the way normally ebay isn't very good for components, i n the UK they are normally more expensive.
