No, wait until dx11, sell your GTX and use the rest to buy a dx11 card.

I don't know how better the fps will be, but what is wrong with your GTX+? That is more than sufficient for now, cards come out mid September I believe.

I wouldn't. I have a 9800gtx+ in my personal computer and my friend had the 4870 and performance seemed close to the same. He returned that for a GTX 260 216 which did show significantly more performance for only a little more than the 4870. If you just had to get a card now, the GTX 260 is a good option, but I don't really think the performance gains would be worth it still. You might just be swimming in more cash than me though.

Uh, there's quite a bit a difference. I know this cause I have a 9800GTX+/OC version and HD4870's. (I don't mean crossfired either) There's a good amount of difference (Scaling/FPS/higher Res, AA, etc) to upgrade, especially for only $50 ? What are you waiting for ?

DX11 will be new and expensive I'm sure, it's definately not going to be under $200.

As some have said wait until DX11 cards then upgrade to a new DX11 card or simply buy a HD4890 for a cheaper price

No and no other explanations needed. Comes from a user who upgraded 8800 to 4890.

everyone is saying to wait for directx 11 cards, but its stupid.

Right now no game is surpassing the "crysis" benchmark. And none are announced to be released (aside from crysis 2)

When DX 11 is released you will need to wait a good year or more untill the tech is used. And by then the dx11 cards will be cheaper and you will save money. I say upgrade now to something of a gtx 260- gtx 280 level (i dont know ati cards) and just chill. :)

The point is if you wait 2 more months the prices of ATI cards should drop. Possibly the price of Nvidia's cards as well.

A 4890 would be a decent upgrade and worth it. but from this vid, going to 4870 wont help much.

If you're looking to play Crysis at 1080p, you're going to need a dual card setup. I'd personally wait to see how the dx11 cards perform to see if you can get by with just one of those, or just spend money for 2 4870's or 2 gtx 260's. Or just lower the graphical settings in Crysis.

If you can't wait for DX 11 cards then get the HD 4870, best value in GPU's @ $120 after rebate on Newegg. I want a Core i7 920 build and want to stick either a HD 4870 or wait for DX 11 cards also, but those will be expensive initially and not as sweet price wise as the HD 4870 is now.
