Hey guys, I have a Raidmax RX-630A, a 630 watt psu in my rig. I've decided to step up to this beast from an EVGA 8800GT Superclocked Edition. I read the GX2 hands-on on the site, and if I recall, they recommend at least 580 watts. Now, considering the following: an Intel Q6600, a DVD burner, a Blu-ray drive and an X-Fi Platinum sound card, will I have enough leeway to run the card at stock? I have no plans to overclock the card untill I get a new PSU eventually. Any input from you guys would be a great help! Thanks in advance :)

eVGA recommends a 600watt PSU with 28amps on the 12v. Assuming you have that, you should be fine. You'll also need a 6-pin and 8-pin connection.

Cool, I have both connectors. I'll check the rails right now just to be safe....

EDIT: There's two 12v ratings, one is 20 amps and the other 18 amps. Are those combined to make 38 amps or do you need 28 amps on just one 12 volt rail?

Hell no. There's a promo going on at EVGA that gives people 120 days to step up to a 9800 GX2 (already mentioned stepping up in first post :P) I only pay the difference, which is abou $300 :D

Well, if you bought your 8800GT for $300 then at least it isn't a complete ripoff, although I would much rather save up my money for the R700/G200 cards or a Nehalem upgrade if I were you. Suit yourself.
