hello all

as some of you that have helped me in the past know i am upgrading my current parts to later parts (will include later in post)

i have a couple questions about upgrading custom PCs since this is my first upgrade (not first build)

1. i am replacing everything but the case and hard drives (GPU,CPU,PSU,Mobo,RAM). when upgrading do i simply swap out all parts and reboot my computer as if nothing happened?

2. since i am switching the mobo do i need to reinstall windows?

3. before i upgrade should i uninstall all my old drivers?

4. do i need to format my hard drives and lose all my data? or can that carry over like a memory card on a console would when you swap it from console to console?

This is my first upgrade so any help woud be appreciated.

Also, like i said above, here are the parts i will be upgrading/complete setup after upgrade:

-Thermaltake Kandalf full ATX tower case

-2 160gb seagate hdd's

-PNY NVIDIA 8800GTX OC 768mb

-OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply

-CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit

-ASUS P5E ATX Intel Motherboard

-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor

-ZALMAN CNPS9500 LED 92mm 2 Ball Cooling Fan with Heatsink

thanks to those who respond

oh lame lol i was hoping i didnt have to format my drives.

heres another question:

one of my drives is partitioned into the C: drive for windows files and the other half to D: drive for game files. could i copy over the contents of the D: drive to my second drive (E:) since it has enough space and then just format the first drive to reinstall windows then after that is running simply hook up the second drive that now contains D: and E: and it will be recognized? lol sorry if its confusing
