While our good friends here from North America are enjoying Mafia 2, the rest of us waiting for the 27th August release are anxiously waiting to get our hands on the game.

Just a day away now (or two days in some parts of the world) before the rest of us are able to experience what most people say is a beautiful game!

This is the first game I've pre-purchased that I really am dying to play after playing the demo. I tried to keep myself occupied with other games but I always fall back to waiting for Mafia 2.

What have you been playing or doing while waiting for the 27th August release of Mafia 2? For me I was finally able to keep myself occupied with Plain Sight, which was selling on Steam for $2 the other day. Also I've been addicted to watching gangster movies and just recently watched the GoodFellas. Boy, there are a few things I want to do in Mafia 2 that I saw in that movie :D.

Finished it already.. can run it maxed out and I can say the story is great, however apart from that there isn't much else to do. There is a great option of choosing arcade style handling or simulation handling for the cars which is great, simulation lets you drift ;) Dont expect more than 8 hours story gameplay on hard mode

Here in Aus we were gonna get the European release date as well but they changed it to the day after the US launch, I was happy.

Too bad it's not very fun. Goddamn I'm never going to want to drive anything in a game again after Mafia 2 (and 1 for that matter). Hey, come pick me up at X -arrive at X- All right, let's go to Y at the other side of the map -arrive at Y-, -Few minutes gunplay- We're done here, take me back home -take him home- Okay, drive to your own place yourself Goddamn it.

Pretty much sums it up, too much driving and not enough action, exactly what the gamespot review says. Howver the action is very good when it does happen.. Anyone no if this game will have a modding community?

Well, it's safe to say that they brought that part of Mafia 1 into the second game. The first game also had tons of driving yet awesome action.

Finished it and i can hounestly say wahat a F***** waist of money.

The story is ok the acting is good, the action at start is boring, it gets better but never gets me really out of my seat.

Then after XX chapters its done and you think .... play it again ... no ... why should i....?

Bang 50 bucks on the shelves after 12 hours pleasure ....

replay value 5 bucks, nothing more. big dispointment it is.

Great story, good atmosphere, nice graphics, beautiful city the made and its fun to play.

So far I hear that its short, I dont know that yet, I am 8 hours into the game and I think I am about 38% it says.

So far I dont have anyhting to complain about with the game, other then maybe a few side quests would be nice.

This game isnt for everyone though, its mainly story and character driven. Its not non stop action and shooting, as the driving is there to (which I enjoy to be honest). Driving around the beautiful city is fun and enjoyable to me. Instead of lots of things like playing pool or going to the strip club, this game puts everything into atmosphere, story and characters. Not to mention the gunplay is very fun to. The soundtrack is good also.

If the game is indeed around 10 hours then sure I would like another 5 hours or so on top of that, but so what, they have made a great story here with good dialogue, great voice acting and interesting characters.

Some people want more open world aspects and more shooting/less story and driving, like GTA,etc..

And some of us want characters we can enjoy, a good story, great atmosphere and a game world that realy pulls you in.

Not a game for everyone, but if you like story and characters then pick it up.

If the game is only 10 hours then that would be my only complaint, along with a few side missions.

just my two cents, but I have alreayd ahd more fun with Mafia2 then any of the GTA games. Sure the GTA games are more open and have side missions and you can work out,etc.. but the story, characters, atmosphere and gunplay isnt as good as in Mafia2.

Looking for more open-world, side missions, mayhem and longer game then get GTA

Looking for a more linear game, with great story, good characters, dialogue and gunplay? Then Mafia might be right up your alley.

Surprisingly the download speed is quite nice. Going to finish in 3 hours. ( Downloads at 500kb/s which is considered quite good with a 4mbps connection )

I really enjoyed the game, I liked the driving as well. The way the conducted the end game made me feel like it was unfinished but it's very good.

I kinda wish the game was longer though. It's one of those games that sucks me in and leaves me wanting for more once I hit the abrupt ending.

Well, it's safe to say that they brought that part of Mafia 1 into the second game. The first game also had tons of driving yet awesome action.

The driving was just as painful back then though. The problem is that it's so bloody poster, I'm not like hwoever that above poster was that liked sight seeing in video games. It looked nice the first 15 minutes but then it got old. Very old. The plot is bloody generic as well, but the voice acting is definitiely better than most games, ditto for the dialogue. It does feel like a 1950s gangster movie atmosphere wise, but as I said, the big picture isn't that amazing. The only "oh wow" part of the game was when the Chinese went mad (if you've played the game you know which part I'm referring to).
