I think I have broken my firewire port on my motherboard.
It doesn't recognize my camera when I connect it with a Firewire cable. With my old pc, it works, the only difference in software is that it was XP and my new pc is vista.

But before I do something with my computer, I want to test wether my firewire-port is really broken, or wether it's a software porblem. Does anyone know how to test my firewire-port?

The only thing I can think of that you can do simply on your PC is to have a look in Device Manager to see if you are getting any errors in the Firewire device properties page.

Otherwise, if you've got any other Firewire products, that'd be you best bet.

If that doesn't help, you'll probably have to get your PC looked at if it's critical that you need the port.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
