Gaming should be for entertainment, not replace your real life. I do like to play games, but I fit them in around the rest of my life: I'm a husband, a father, and I work for a local charity, and all of that comes first. Honestly. if you place a priority on gaming over forming relationships and contributing to society, then you're going to lead a sad and lonely existence. I mean, at the end of the day if all you want to do is play games, then you would be wasting your life away for...what exactly?RobertBowenFor something that you want to do? For something that makes you happy? It therefore wouldn't be considered wasting your life since thats what you choose to do. I work 6 days a week, have am in a serious relationship and barely have enough time to sleep.. i have been playing games for as long as i can remember and sometimes when i get home from work i will put gaming before everything else. I get home and im tired, in an annoyed mood and want to be left alone for a while, i'll load up a game of CS and play for 30 minutes before i go out to see my girl. Nothing wrong with that. If i put everything off for 30 minutes so i can relax then how is that a bad thing? Sometimes in life you need time to yourself, to do whatever it is you want to do. If people choose to sit down and play games and the rest of the world can get stuffed.. there is nothing wrong with that. Unless they do that 24/7 i guess. ;)
I always schedule my game time around my school schedule, and I never make it so I "have" to play video games.Ā I often go a few days without touching my computer at home unless its for email and word processing (and going to Gamespot, of course).
Unfortunately, I only have classes at night and I quit my job this quarter so that leaves A LOT of time free.Ā In addition, for some reason knowing my classes arent until 4PM makes me want to do nothing productive until then.Ā So my gaming has gotten a little out of hand lately.Ā I would say on average I play about 15-20 hours a week, but thats only for this quarter.
Usually wake up, go to gym, come home and eat breakfast and shower.Ā Then I play games for a bit.Ā Then I eat lunch, do homework and watch TV.Ā Then I go to class.Ā After class I go to the gym, come home eat dinner, and usually do homework til I fall asleep.
If I wont the lottery, gaming is the last thing I would do.Ā I would drop out of school and get a job as a sous chef at the local french restaurant in town, make 30 grand a year, work 50 hours a week.Ā I love to cook!
[QUOTE="drblood1"]i play 24/7 every available time ^^ but i go out once and a whileJagg3dQFT, I find playing a lot more enjoyable than going out, less money and in the end more fun
To each his own, and I dont want to offend anyone...
...but I just dont see how you guys would take gaming over hanging out with friends.Ā Ā I mean, I sometimes get in the mood where I just want to chill in my room and play games for the next few days, but if I miss an opportunity to go see a movie or go out to dinner or drink some booze with my friends, I just cant live with myself!
I study at a university and that doesn't leave much timeĀ for gaming except at weekends. If I have an exam or any other work that's need to be done,Ā I'll spend the weekend doing thatĀ instead of gaming. IfĀ I'm free for the weekend I'llĀ probably spend 3-4Ā hours playing,Ā Friday-Sunday.Ā Ā
I am obsessed, go to school at 7:30, get home at 3:00pm and get on my computer until 11:00pm, The only break I get is going to the bathroom and getting a plate of food to bring back to my PC. I use my PC for everything. I have other friends just like me so it is not a social life crusher. But if I was forced to choose between someone or my computer that someone better be a family member or no go.about the same here except replace school with work, bringing the plate back to the pc is ownage.

Are you guys serious?
I feel truly minute next to all of you who are able to work, raise families, and then still play games for 3 hours a night. I play games... I play them alot, and that doesn't bother me because I can say that I have an all A-B average, a clean driver's record, and no previous arrests (that I remember xD). I think that games are similar to anything in life, in that they are there to be manipulated by you, not the other way around!
I can also say that my reflexes are off the charts, I can hit a bullseye with a compound bow from 50 feet away, I can fly an airplane, I played football and showedĀ my school spirit,Ā I have a second degree black belt, and, in general, me > you xD. Yes, games had an effect on some of these things, but I have accomplished more in my life than just a good gamerscore.
