Ok so the deal is I'm a casual pc gamer and am in need of a new laptop. I'm a student and use a laptop a lot so I'm not thinking desktop at all. I also don't have a clue what to look for since I haven't shopped the pc market in a while nor did I purchase my first laptop. So I would really appreciate some input on a couple of things...

-I'm willing to pay bet. $800-1000, but would consider breaking 1000 if necessary

-Specific laptops currently out there that are good buys for gamers

or

-Atleast information on what parts to look for

-I'd like to set my gaming benchmark on the ability to play Unreal Tournament 3 at decent graphics settings, and if possible, Crysis with decent settings.

So thats my story and any input that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Laptops are bleh for gamming...

I might get jumped for even thinking about this but...

I think they are WAY overpriced though it is worth a look. I'm not a pro on laptops, so I would really wouldn't know where to start... I would stay away from dell or similar places. They will sell you crap for a huge wad of cash.

I think that there are very few sites that will provide a gaming laptop for that cheap. You could go to cyberpowerpc and get one with decent specs for under $1000, but they have really inconsistent customer feedback. Honestly, I would just reccomend getting a laptop for school and save the money for a desktop eventually.

But, if you must:

Xplorer-X5-4850

For $929:

Core 2 Duo T8100 (penryn) 2.10Ghz

2GB DDR2-667

Geforce 8600M GT

I think that's about as cheap as it will get.

You WILL need to sacrifice at least one limb for a GOOD gaming laptop..I'd pick a leg cuz you don't use them much when your gaming anyway and just pick the leg with the foot you don't use for driving pedals :P

If you want a reasonably priced gaming laptop I would suggest either of these Gateways: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8651167&productCategoryId=abcat0502003&type=product&tab=2&id=1195599780039#productdetailhttp://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8780198&productCategoryId=abcat0502003&type=product&tab=2&id=1204332501169#productdetail

dude, listen to me, since you have a lower budget GET THIS LAPTOP.

I had a budget too, as my uncle was buying me a laptop and i didnt want to go too expensive yet get something with good specs. I got a hp and it SUCKED. Returned it, looked around, and saw this one mentioned. ITS AMAZING for its price.

Not to mention if you want to pick it up at best Buy in person print ou the online sheets, all of them, because Best Buy matches deals at the store. I got all the money off on accesories i needed as well as my choice of ANY PC GAME free(under 49.99 but thats everything almost ha).

The computer makes no noise, is cool, and runs things great. Im playing UT3 at full capacity with no lag singl or multiplayer. For the money its great
