Hey guys, i've been a console gamer for most of my life (i'm 17) and even with PC games i've tried using controllers (I'm a sinner i know :(), but i'd like to try to learn how to aim well and use the keyboard for FPS-type games (my goal is to play skyrim and possibly FPS's functionally well). Any games you can recommend to help me learn and get used to this foreign control scheme. :)

Play twitch-based shooters (UT2k4, TF2, Quake Live).

depends on how eager you are to learn ^^

If it is the basic usage and aiming then I would suggest nearly all SP fps games.

the less complicated the better.

A game like Quake 2, or the like just more modern, somewhat void of story, and other, just the pure control, and simle mechanic of shooting. I suppose Painkiller might be quite good for learning the stuff.

I would advise against any fps games that is complicated in any way if it is to learn the KB/M kombo. when you have playied around with such a game, I think you might want to jump into a sort of heavy SP story driven game that you think youd enjoy, and keep using the KB/M you learned as the control scheme.

the last thing Id ever suggest is to start with a game that uses alot of commands, or is complicated in gameplay or story.

This helped me out a lot. CSS was the best teacher after leaving my xbox ;). Sure you will die...a lot but my BF3 skills have it to thank.

No not CS, you'll be wasting most of your time trying to get into a round. Although that is where I got my fps skills. You can easily get them faster with quake though.

serious sam hd, coop with friends!

amending it with the why: simple + stupid fun, the guns are very straighforward, the enemies are very straightforward (and there's a lot of them), you can play with unlimited lives without feeling like you're ruining the game, and in coop everything is better. :D i did prefer the second encounter by a long shot, though.

Don't go multiplayer to learn. Just pick up Quake (1) on Steam and shoot away.
