Im building a new gaming rig and this is what I have so far:

It has a 750i Nforce Motherboard

OCZ 700W PSU

All housed in an Antec Nine Hundred Case and an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.

i'm skeptical about quad cores, especially the q6600, since it's an older model of quad cores. but since you're overclocking it'll turn out good, i hope. bear in mind that E8400 processors will perform better in most games in this period of time.

you might want to switch to hd4850 cards, they're better (so far specs go) and they're cheaper, with the money you save you could probably get a q9450 processor, or something along those lines. or you can just run the cards in CF (that is, if your MOBO has more than two PCI-E 16x video slots).

are you sure the motherboard has socket 775 for the processor? i can't verify it on the newegg website.

Yes, that mobo has a 775 port, it will work great.

And, if he wanted to CF two 4850's, he couldn't use that board. Nvidia chipsets cannot utilize CF technology, only SLI.

No, the q6600 is fine if you just overclock it to like 3 GHz. And I would get the ATI 4870.

oops, missed that one out. :-(

anyway, i'm sure the performance of a hd470 card (oced version, or hd4870 toxic) will outperform the 8800GTS in SLI, and it's cheaper too.

I'd personally go for a single card solution. It may be worth it to wait a few weeks for the 4870x2. No crossfire neccessary, and you can get a great P45 board for overclocking.

I'd get the 4870x2 if you want to wait

or just a 4870
Single card solutions take up less space in your case and have less hot hair piling up on the bottom o' the case
