I wanna get a good laptop to play WoW on. I have a desktop, but it's not that great when it comes to PC games. It runs the game, sure, but everything moves really slow. I just want a good laptop that I can get to play the game and all the expansions. Any suggestions?

I like alienware but it is really expensive. I also like my vaio laptop. It can play a lot of games smoothly.

Do you NEED a laptop (as in mobility)? Or would a new gaming desktop be ok? I ask cause it will be cheaper. But anyway, both Alienware (DELL) and Sony Vaio are expensive.....try looking at ASUS website under gaming...

Well, I already have a desktop. Having two would use too much space. And my mom bought my current one; and if I sold it, she'd get MAD! lol

I honestly think there is no logic in a gaming laptop. Any good gaming laptop will have it's battery depleted in no time while gaming, thus rendering the "portability" feature useless... IMO - Desktop and a netbook/Vaio - best combo

lol WOW. Why didn't I just do that? Thanks for putting common sense into my head. Not really used to playing PC games, so yeah. Not really sure how to make things go better though. How can I make things run faster?

This is exactly what I do. I travel a lot so it doesnt matter to me if I have to plug it in, all that matters is that I can take it where I need to go.

I think I'll just upgrade my desktop. An NVIDIA 5500 is the minimum, and I have a 6150. So the video card is fine. I think I just need more RAM or something.

This is exactly what I do. I travel a lot so it doesnt matter to me if I have to plug it in, all that matters is that I can take it where I need to go.

Likewise... I game on AC power and then use the portability for other stuff. And to the poster suggesting the ASUS gaming section, they make great laptops. Mine is from their "multimedia center" section, and runs Dragon Age on max settings just fine. :)

Asus gaming laptops are minimum a grand, yes. I have an ASUS N61Jq, it was $1100 in February this year, so that might be more in your budget range. I run Dragon Age on max settings at 40-50FPS, I can play Mass Effect smoothly, and run The Witcher maxed out. You want to invest in a cooling pad for long gaming session though. My CPU was going over 70C after a couple of hours of Dragon Age, and that's just plain bad. I bought a Thermaltake cooling pad for $30 on Amazon, and now the CPU is steady on 55C-60C after hours of gaming, which is much better. Also, never game on battery. Seriously. I think my laptop was bought on Newegg... it was a birthday gift, so that part was never very clear.

But they are really good.... just over a grand is still cheap in gaming laptops (have a look at alienware and compare)....

Details. It's out of stock with Newegg right now, but should be easy to find. Alternatively, you can try to find a similar but more recent model, with faster CPU and more powerful graphics. ;) I love mine. Especially the fact that for the screen size, it's comparatively thin and light, so I can carry it with me and lounge on the couch with it very comfortably. Depending on who you ask it may not be "super" anymore (I think it is!), but it was back in February, and most importantly of all, it can play all my current games and in the end that's what matters the most. :)

Whoa! Free Civ 5 makes that a no-brainer! :lol: Happy to help. Hope you like it. :) IMPORTANT: After buying it you have 30 days to register it on the ASUS website if you want the completely free "I'm a clutz and I spilled my soda into it"-extra warranty. After 30 days you can't get that anymore, and the card that comes with it, that you're supposed to mail in, isn't going to work. Mine came back with a "address unknown" stamp on the envelope. Just register the laptop on their website instead.
