I am currently using a Intel Pentium 945 D 3.5 GHz (2 CPU's)

I'm going to get a 9800GTx+, im going to see how badly bottlenecked it will be
if it works fine then I won't change, if it annoys me I'll just buy a new
processor.

but I don't know which one, any ideas?
I'm looking for something with a reasonable price

Get a e8600, you won't regret it. OCs extreemely easily to 4.0 ghz (400 mhz x 10)

Its wayyy better than the one you're looking at.

What he said! But if you have the cash, and don't want to OC, get something in the e8x00 series.

E7200/7300 replaced those. I recommend them or an E5200. But that is if your motherboard can even use one...........................

Double check because you don't want to buy a new proc and find out your comp won't work with it. Or you may have to flash the BIOS :? Even some C2D boards needed a flash to use the new 45nm Wolfdale CPUs............

First stop should be the mobo manufacturer's website. They should have plenty of documentation.
