A good point about the 7970's

Ok so heres what Im thinking about the 7970's

So far I think anybody would rationally agree that the reference 680 is slightly better then the reference 7970. But one thing that I have noticed is that when both cards are ran at a higher and higher reolutions the 7970's performance seems to get better and better. Sooo if you were trying to make a more future proof system wouldnt you want to get the 7970?

I mean a year or so down the road say that 1600 resolution monitors were the norm and they were considerably cheaper then they are now. So say you could run 7970's in crossfire at 1600 resolution and you would probably get better performance then the 680's. What do you guys think? Im not being an AMD fanboy or anything I just found those results interesting is all.

According to this, the GTX 680 outperforms the 7970 at 2560x1600 anyways, so that probably won't be an issue. As far as Crossfire vs SLI, that all depends on the scaling of the cards and the driver updates.

Yeah, they do get closer.. but the GTX 680 is still ahead. I would say that makes it the better choice for that resolution, unless you only play specific games that happen to run better on the 7900 series.

i love how no one takes into account that the 680 auto overclocks... if you OC the 7970 which i put mine in CCC up to 1125MHz 1575MHz without breaking a sweat with never a hickup or error, its prb just as fast or faster.
