By realistic, I mean a game that lets you do REAL pirate stuff. Not what the crappy pirate stories for kids tell you.
-Robbing villages to the last coin or keg your ship can hold.
-Burn down anything you can't carry.
-Murder everyone in the plundered villages.
-Except for a few select women, and you know why.
-Stop at taverns inbetween journeys for drinking, brawling and ploughing.
-Using typical pirate gear - a trusty cutlass, a dagger, a flintlock (or a blunderbuss for maximum collateral damage), and maybe some sort of a grenade/bomb to make razing villages easier, and ofcourse, no armor for maximized agility.
-Ceaseless pirate talk.

Honestly, that's a lot of pretty specific criteria, but can you guys name any game (or mod) that answers the above, even SOMEWHAT?

Cutthroats is the first thing that comes to mind (burning villages, enslaving the locals, blowing up regiments with grenades, running false flags to lure in ships, and so much more), but that game is ancient now, and didn't even work back when it was released. So it's a bit difficult to recommend.

You should definitely try Pirates of the Caribbean by Bethesda... has the fun of Morriwind's exploration, with some pretty awesome ship battles. It's a pretty sweet action RPG, used to be one of my favorites.

As Shatilov said Sid Meier's Pirates is a good pirate simulation game with a story which isn't very long but you can play even after you finish the story. You can befriend countries like UK,France,Spain, etc. or wage war on them and change their province to any land you desire including a pirate bay.You can recruit fellow pirates and will have to keep an eye on resources like food and coal. There are sea and land battles.Just like in fight night as your character gets older he also becomes weaker but gets more gold being old(old is gold). There are a range of items to use in different situations. You can woo the Governor of a province's daughter.Fight jealous men.Become a notorious pirate.Take over the Carribean.

I also recomend monkey island its not a simulation of pirates but it revolves around happenings within the pirate world. Its somewhat of a puzzle game but nothing like your old tetris or whatnot. You are Guybrush Threepwood,Mighty adventurer who is going through his pirating life.If I talk more about it, it may contain a lot of spoilers. The sad thing about this is that we will never see another monkey island unless someone buys lucasarts the creators of monkey island which are being sold at the time of this message it might have already been bought by activision or someone. It is very much like most of lucasarts other games except they had mad the story for this which was very interesting the best I have seen. WARNING:This game might be almost impossible for some people because you will have to think logically at some points and illogically at others. It brings thinking along with a touch of comedy everywhere you go. Sometimes people wish they were born later in life but some wish they were born earlier. This game makes me wish I was born earlier.

Because a game is a simulation, what happens on that screen isn't real. What someone spends their off-time doing in front of a screen isn't my business and is harmless as long as it stays a fantasy.

Burnchild_Ren

Most of the successful pirates of the era tried to avoid most of those things. The infamous Blackbeard is actually thought to never have killed anyone until his final battle to the death with the navy. He would just scare the hell out of people by lighting firecrackers in his beard which made him look like a demon and take things for free.

The pirates you're talking about all ended up dead real quick.

On topic... Pirates! Is a pretty awesome game.

Yup, aren't a lot of the anime dating sims basically that anyways? Regardless, I feel like giving someone an outlet for their fantasy or 'needs' keeps it out of real life. I strongly believe that the child molestation problem with Catholic priests wouldn't be nearly the problem it is if the 'mastrabation is a sin' rule wasn't there, because they wouldn't be so deprived.

Also, going back to my earlier point, does it really matter what the guys does on his computer behind closed doors? You will likely never know unless they decide to share or you go out of your way to spy on the person in their free time, and no one gets hurt. Now if he was actually making child pornography with a live child, we would have a serious problem since the kid is obviously getting hurt in a myriad of ways.

Pedophiles, Hebephiles and Ephebephiles have a mental illness. Giving them a virtual option to help curb them from performing sex acts on real children is infinitely better than just making all pornography depicting children, real or not, illegal.

Good god mate, quit overexaggerating and overthinking like a 50 years old soccer mom with 10 children, which is what I suspect you might be.
It's just another criteria for getting the real pirate feeling, whilst remaining in the VIRTUAL realm of a VIDEO GAME.
It's not like I would, say, fap to it if it was there. It's just there for the aesthetic. A small detail that, combined with other small details, creates immersion. We, as curious human beings, seek out new experiences - even harmful experiences, to us or to others - and a VIDEO GAME, or a MOVIE, allows you to have the said experience, which stays inside the virtual realm of the VIDEO GAME if you allow it to, and has no impact on the real world. This is called "SIMULATION".
Why did you have to make a fuss about it? it seems that everyone else here understands that it's a part of the aesthetic and isn't some sort of a sick fantasy. You are like those fussy girls who call people perverts when they look at their bum/breasts, thinking that they are having some sort of weird sexual fantasies about them. Human nature, my friend - don't overthink it.

I never said sex was taboo, nor do I think that. The op was looking for a game in which his main character gets to rape women.

Those remaining women he talks about, it's not certainly rape, they can please the dirty n smelly rum drinking pirates or get raped and then thrown into the sea, they don't really have a choice.

I can name so many movies following accurately the pirate life style, but games, not so many.

The closest is Sid Meier's Pirates. You go around with your ship, plundering and sinking vessels and you can also flirt with with governor's daughters.

Maybe you will and maybe you won't. I have no idea why you want it.

Actually, -nobody- here knows that. The people who have sided with you are assuming that, but they don't know you any better than I do. All we actually know is that you're the guy who asked for a game in which you can rape women.

-->You are like those fussy girls who call people perverts when they look at their bum/breasts, thinking that they are having some sort of weird sexual fantasies about them. Human nature, my friend - don't overthink it.

Here's one of the specific problems I have with your request:

While I don't believe in censorship for games or movies, there are certain topics that should be handled tastefully. Games are still a relatively new industry and are clamoring for mainstream acceptance, but it's been an uphill battle all the way. When Conservative right wingers attack games, one of the specific talking points used in the past was about GTA IV (a popular and mainstream game) and how there was rape content in the game. Fortunately, this is easily defensible because it's complete bullsh!t and there is no such content in this or -any- mainstream game (besides obscure porn games from Japan, to my knowledge). I'm not talking about the implied threat of sexual violence to add tension to the story or as a set-piece for revenge, I'm talking about your character raping someone. Movies, obviously, have a much wider latitude than games, but can you think of many movies (besides porn) in which the main character rapes another character? Why do you think that is?

I don't care if there is sex, violence, or even sexual violence if it's handled tastefully as is part of the story. Nobody is going to watch the movie Irréversible and think "gee, that's hot" (at least nobody I ever want to meet). The rape scene in that movie is traumatizing as f*ck, but that's the point. It's the setup for a horribly brutal revenge epic. Asking for a game to include the ability to rape women as an "aesthetic" is not handling the subject tastefully.

Games have a hard enough time as it is. A game that let you do what you have asked for would just be ammo for another nail in the censorship coffin on gaming as a whole.

Having said that, I don't think there is anything wrong with a game having rape, as long as it's implicit rather than explicit. Rape is a part of life. Just like death (which is far more consequential and hurtful to people than rape). Yet games are full of death.

how "pirate-y" did Risen 2 get?  I bought it, played it for a bit, but didnt really get too far.

This topic has me craving some pirate games as well, might have to load up Pirates! or Risen 2 (or switch from a space mercenary to a space pirate in Darkstar One...god I cant wait for Star Citizan)

Gets more piratey as it goes along.

Also the worst part of the game is the first few hours. I almost stopped playing the first few hours, but I enjoyed it quite a bit the other 80% of the game. Especially when they added the new moves (dodge,etc..) with an update.

KHAndAnime

Rape is not "a part of life" like death. It's a reality, because crime is a reality, but it is not an inevetibility. I can guarantee that you will die one day, but it's pretty unlikely that you'll be raped in your life.

Yes, games have death and very few games deal with the emotional rammifications of death to people left behind in any sort of realistic sense. In video games, killing a person isn't about murder, but about killing the bad guy and saving the day or getting revenge for some terrible wrong.

Sure, there are anti-hero storylines where the hero may be as morally ambiguous as the antagonist or even no better, but often the protagonist is still adhering to some version of a moral code, even if it's the moral code of a criminal (like the sort of thing you'd see in every Quentin Tarrantino movie). When it comes to rape, there is no moral justification. There is no such thing as "raping someone to be the hero" of any story.

And yes, you can mow people down in sandbox games, but even then that's more about the freedom to do whatever you want in the game rather than mowing down innocent people as being the point. The exception are games that most people (thankfully) consider to be morally abherent crap like the Postal series or the games put out by the KKK.

But, no, I don't consider the idea of rape in a game to be strictly taboo because I don't believe in censorship. I've played games in which a character was raped as a part of the story (never depicted, thankfully). Sometimes it was part of the backstory, other times it heppened sometime over the course of the game (the same sort of thing you would expect in serious movies). I would not, however, be interested in playing a game in which my character was the rapist. While I don't mind killing in a game, it has to be justified on some moral code level. I don't want to play a game where my character stalks innocent people and slits their throats in front of their terrified families.

My point is, while there may be violence (or even sexual violence) in a serious video game just as you might expect to see in a movie, I worry about the guy for whom that's one of the main selling points.

I am 90% sure he just wants a game that lets you sexually assault people, and he wanted to disguise it with an elaborate request for a pirate game.

Because Risen 2 and Assassin's Creed 3 are the most pirate-y games I can think of, and there is no such stuff.
