I have a 600 watt psu, and am looking for a new graphics card that can max out Assassin's creed 2, and Modern Warfare 2. Can anyone recommend me one, that I won't need to upgrade my psu for? And one relativly cheap..

welll a lot of cards should be able to max those games. Whats our price range. If you are only going to spend $100 the radeon 4770 is better than the 4830 and the 4850. I got a 9500gt for 40 dollars for one of my rigs and i was able to max out cod 4 but i only get around 30 fps. I would go for the 4770.

Here are some important questions relevant to what you're asking..

What resolution do you plan to play at? Is your 9800gt now performing well enough at that resolution? (I ask because a 9800gt could run COD4 and Cod5, as well as assassin's creed at very high settings depending on the resolution).

If you do get a new video card, what is your price range? Also.. have you ever considered overclocking your CPU or getting a new one? A 2.1ghz triple-core may be holding you back as well.

Don't blame the 9800gt for bad performance, blame your 2.1 triple core. It's bottle-necking your entire system. Find a better processor instead of a new video card. My friend has a 9800gt (non-OC) and he gets 30-40 fps on maxed COD: WaW.

You still didn't tell us what resolution you're going to be gaming at. And if you're getting performance that good right now, you don't need to upgrade at all for those games.

You won't need to upgrade for those games, Especially COD:MW2.

I bet the TC cant tell the difference between 70 fps and 300 fps anyways even if the fps ticker was turned on.

Don't blame the 9800gt for bad performance, blame your 2.1 triple core. It's bottle-necking your entire system. Find a better processor instead of a new video card. My friend has a 9800gt (non-OC) and he gets 30-40 fps on maxed COD: WaW.

Why in God's name would you think his triple core is "bottlenecking" his system???

Did you just see someone use that term and decide to start using it?

99% of people who use that term do not know what they're talking about!

A processor can have 20 cores and still suck due to a low clock speed. 2.1 on an AMD is highly insufficient to play games. Get better with PC's. Kthx.

Well from the performance that he seems to be getting now, I don't think his system is overly bottlenecked. 70-90fps in any game does not suck. However, a 2.1ghz triple core is not a very great choice for a gaming CPU. Not unless you overclock it. Let's face it- most games out still like a faster dual core (faster clock speeds in general, provided a minimum of a dual-core) than a slower triple (or even quad) core CPU. I mean, it's not like his X3 is running at 2.8 or 3ghz.. it's at 2.1ghz. That could cause some problems.

Why would you upgrade from an 9800GT if the two games your looking forward 2 are using the same but updated engines of games that the 9800GT can very easily run?... If your going to upgrade I suggest going all out i.e a better CPU and mid-high end GPU. The difference between a 9800GT and most other cards is negligable since your all ready running games more than 60fps at your resolution with the exception of a few, why would you need more?!

Id get a better processor first, I used to have that same processor and it was better than lets say a 5000+ dual core, but not by much. the phenom 2 chips completely smoke it and you'll notice a big improvement.
