I've been doing some research and figured that the best way to go is to build my own computer instead of buying pre-built. So I've been on Newegg looking and these are the system specs that I think I want. Are there any glaring problems or places that should be upgraded/downgraded like the power supply or motherboard or anything? Any help would be much appreciated.

That mb is for AMD. If you're only going to use one video card take a look at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128064

Also just wondering if the processor comes with a cooler, or do I need to get that separately?

It's a retail box, so it will come with a cooler.

If, you're not going to over-clock or go with a quad cpu, you should look at this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115028. Is this going to be your first build, and are you going to have any help building it?

Well I was going to get the Q6600 that serbsta69 recommended but is the E6850 a faster CPU? And yes this is my first build but I will have a friend who has built a computer or two with me.

In that case I would get the Q6600, if it's not a retail box (with cooler) then I would add a Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7. It's cheap and works better than stock. It's also not hard to install. Cheers !!

P.S. I checked and the Q6600 is a retail box, so it will have a cooler.
