I been out of PC gaming since about 03ish, and built a new rig and bought a crapload of rpgs i needed to catch up on and NWN2 is one of them and every aspect of this game is as classic rpg as it gets, down to the bone, i absolutely love it...the graphics of the armors and weapons, the depth of character creation and team building you can do, the quests, good god this game is unreal!!!

The game was a buggy mess. Although it was fun for a decent amount of time.

Excellent game. Right from the character creation screen - I knew I was in for a treat.

Same, when i seen the amount of detail put into each classes armor and the character creation...freakin heaven, absolute rpg bliss. I am so loving the game, its just one hell of a game so far and ive barely scratched the surface. Depth is an understatement for this game!

The best RPG this gen imo, and prolly also the most bashed, can't blame people for that it tho, it was a mess at release with several game stopping bug, and I still can't even put shadows to max or it chokes.

I thought it was really good too...though to be honest I was slightly disappointed in certain aspects but overall the game was highly enjoyable. I especially enjoyed the whole deal with the keep and upgrading this base of operations. Regarding performance it was rough at launch, but patches has fixed those issues.

What and how many exp packs did they put out for it guys?

Also yea, performance is a question i got. Im rollin with an i7, gtx 295 and 6gb of ram...now i realize older games just arent built to run with a system like this, but when i disable my 2nd gpu still i get like when the screen is scrolling it just after 6 to 7 seconds of pure smoothness, it will kind of do a brief stutter...nothing game ending, but just enough to make me think like hmmmm ok whys it doing this.

I can tell my frames are solid, it just has that feel of like incredible smoothness...other than when i start to run and while in my run it will just clip kind of after a bit of smoothness, its weird.

Any way to fix this or adjust?

Shadows are a real problem on that game. If you turn them down it should improve it quite a bit. I think there's only 2 expansions. If you're going to get one, get Mask of the Betrayer first as Storm of Zehir is almost a completely different game.

Yeah, this is the only RPG always keep installed on my hard drive. Between the OC and the two expansions (and an adventure pack coming next) and all the user created mods, it provides a lot of D&D goodness.

I would love some mod recommendations as well. I wanted to try "endless dungeons" for NWN1 but I lost my cd keys so I am looking for something similar for NWN2. (my NWN1 platinum manual where the CD keys was destroyed by my children)

Here's a few... Harp & Chrysanthemum (one of the best if not the best) Asphyxia (pretty good, can be a bit slow but a good story) Tragedy in Tragidor (lots of exploration and action) Night Howls in Nestlehaven V1.17 (lots of action and hack and slash) The Subtlety of Thay (very good, nice combination of story and action) The Birthday (short but sweet)

Thanks much...any of those require the expansions? I only have the original game :( I am actually considering picking one of them up but not sure which one...I like the MotB extra levels, and SoZ seems to have a cool overland map feature as well as an extension on the "trade empire" thing.

I prefered NWN1 to NWN2 but it was still a good game, the Mask of Betrayer expansion was my fav though even if it was too short. The Toolset of NWN2 took me time to adjust to, I prefered the simplicity of NWN1 toolset if only it weren't limited. Most people underrate NWN, mainly because glitches but I still think the games better then Badurs Gate anyday. One of the best things about NWN is the customisation of characters, I honestly don't understand why more RPGs don't do the same and have deeper customisation instead of having to pick between a pack of premade freaks. I wasn't able to get any mods for NWN2 unfortunately, but thanx Gooeykat the next time I install NWN2 I will try his suggestions out.

I really liked NWN2, and if it weren't for all those bugs on the game, it easily beats the first game.

It was a disapointment in my mind, though worth a purchase now.. THe game was the biggest resource hog I have ever seen in my entire time of playing pc games.. The story was pretty generic unfortunately too, but its a dnd game and I am a sucker when it comes to dnd games.

I bought NWN 2 on release day (I'd been waiting to buy it for nearly a year).

On my 3ghz Pentium 4 Neverwinter 2 barely ran at 1680*1050. The game, at launch, wasn't fully cooked, and this caused a lot of gamers to be frustrated. Also, a lot of people, believe it or not, didn't like the water-color graphics, although personally I loved them, which made it even more frustrating that I had to turn down so many graphics options.

NWN 2, however, has been patched and patched, and re-patched, so many times now that it's a very stable game, and will run like a dream on current hardware. I just bought a PC last month and have been thinking about returning to it. In a way, I'm glad that Dragon Age (the reason I bought my new PC in the first place) was cancelled, because I suspect (or rather, I hope) that once I've seen Dragon Age there will be no going back to NWN 2.

I'm viewing Dragon Age as being NWN 3 - it's not, of course, but that's how I'm looking at it.

The funny thing about NWN 2 is that although it was one of my most anticipated games in years, and although I loved playing it (the first two weeks in particular were sublime), I never actually finished it. It's a very long game.

really ? till where did you played NWN 2 ? I found the first part pretty lame (in fact I also gave it for 5-6 months) ,but the second part is much better. if I have to rate , I would give the first part 4.5/10 and second part 8.0/10

Glad to see the game get some love, more motivation to finish my mod!

In any case, it's one of the deepest rpg game available on the market, tons of possibilities but the only downside is that the toolset is way harder to use than the first one so we won't see as many mods due to the complexity.

To be honest I tend to agree with Naval's opinions, the guy has a very good view of games. I remember from a thread I made ages ago his opinions were all very good. NWN2 had the most annoying beginning ever, but the game got better much better as it went along. Mask of Betrayer was the best expansion for the game, I kinda wish it was longer but I thinks its because of the size that I actually like it more then the main campaign, and lastly Storm of Zehir is alright not great but alright. Actually when the hek is Mysteries of Westgate out? I am not sure if I'll get it but I at least want to see it.

I thought the controls were a bit uncomfortable....but that could be just me. Also...have they fixed all the bugs with patches? or does it still run like GTA4?
