So I haven't been playing games for a while now, but recently I have been in the mood to play again, I went to a game shop and nothing really seemed right so I am looking for advise, the games I liked most when I used to play were things like Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torrment and others of similar playstyle. Are there any more recent games in line with games like those, or have they kind of died out? Thanks for any help!

Baldur's Gate II, Icewind Dale I & 2, and Neverwinter Nights I & 2. NWN 2 is exceptional.

NWN was ok, but it didn't feel like D&D, like Baldur's Gate or Planescape did. My main reason being that you didn't really have a party. In Baldur's gate you get what 6 guys? It felt like I was playing D&D with my friends, but I control their fates *insert evil laughter*. But NWN you only get one other guy. How lame is that!? I want a party of adventurers struggling to end whatever evil is plageuing the lands. It felt like Diablo 2 in the way that your 'party member' was really just a hireling.

I might get flamed for this, but I would recommend Morrowind and Oblivion. Go to Planetelderscrolls.com and get some mods, those games are so amazing with mods.

Agree on Morrowind, but I hated Oblilvion. /shudder. Not that either is really the kind of thing you're after imho.

I agree with NWN 2. Should be very much up your alley. I'd also recomend the Withcer except you mentioned your preference for more than one person in your party...

I've just started Age of Conan and while it is a MMORPG I find the RPG elements to be more than your avg. online game, especially the early game. Plus its brand new.
