A new graphics card...

I currently have an Acer M5500 with a GeForce 8600GT. I would like to buy and install a 8800GT, but I still have several questions.

- My computer has Vista Premium preïnstalled and I am wondering wether Vista will accept a new grphics card or not.

- Will I have to change my Power Supply Unit?

- Will a PCIe2.0 card fit in my computer, because I think I have aPCI card.

1) Yes.

2) Depending on your PSU, if it is 450w and above with atleast 28a on the 12v rail, then you are fine.

3) Obviously yes because your 8600GT is most definitely PCI-E(PCI is ancient). PCI-E 1.0 and 2.0 are backwards compatible.

What PsU do you have?... anything more than 450watts on +12v railis good enough.

there should be something like "12V1+12V2=xxA" wich means the total amperage of the 12V rail. it's usually something between 20-30A.

It's 250W and 12V1=6.0A and 12V2=10.0 A.

It's an ATX-150PA (1PF).

But I don't really get it. The 8800GT only uses about double the energythan the 8600GT and now I have 250W and I should have 450W?
