So basically, I don't know how to tell the difference between processors. I don't really know how to tell if one is better than the other besides for the speed (ex: 2.4 GHz). What am I supposed to look for when comparing processors? Thank you.

Well the speed and the number of cores, and overclockability.

Of course you need to make sure you get a CPU compatible with your mothrboard.

Are you upgrading or building a new one?

Personally I would get the thing with the most core and fastest speed you can afford.

How much are you looking to spend?

I'd go for the Q6600 or the Q6700. They offer the best price performance ratio, and a 4 series ATI card. Personally I have nvidia, but you cant really argue with the value for money that ATI offer at the moment (Hurry up 300 Series Nvidia!).

Also the Q6600 is known for good Overclocks, so it leaves some overhead for improvement later on.
