In my users manual it saids this whole thing about the the connectors to the cpu and the main. ''The power connectors are compatible with power supplies with a 2x2 12v and 2x10 power connectors. When using a power supply providing a 2x4 12v and a 2x12 power connector, remove the protective covers from the 12v power connector and the main power connector on the motherboard. Do not insert the power supply cables into pins under the protective covers when using a power supply providing a 2x2 12v and a 2x10 power connector.'' Seems confusing, I don't know which ATX12v 2x4/ATX PSU to go with, but that kind of PSU thats 500-520W.
All that means is your motherboard is compatible with 4-pin (2x2) CPU power connector (don't remove the cover if you use this one) 8-pin (2x4) CPU power connector 20-pin (2x10) main power connector (don't remove the cover if you use this one) 24-pin (2x12) main power connector I would go with the 8-pin and 24-pin connectors personally. They're better suited to provide the power required by newer hardware. Some good brands are Corsair, Antec, Thermaltake and PC Power & Cooling among others. Make sure it has all the correct type and quantity of power connections you need for all of your hardware and has sufficient power to run your video card(s). I would also suggest getting one with modular cables, but that's subjective.
Basically what it means is if your PSU doesnt have the relevant plug, then, on the motherboard, you can leave the connector that is covered as is. If your PSU has the extraplugs, then you can remove the cover on the connector on the motherboard and use that to plug into.Certain CPUs like the higherend Intel Core2s and Quadcores use lots of power and so, its recommeneded to use a PSU with the extra plugs to provide higher current flows. If you are in the position to purchase a new PSU, then you should go for one with the highest power rating that your budget will allow.
I still don't get it, if my PSU has 24-pin (2x12) and a 4-pin(2x2) i should connect the 4-pin(2x2) connector to the right end of the (8-pin extra plug) or just leave the 4-pin(2x2) connector alone? My board didn't came with any cover so i'm not sure if the cover would be covering the entire 8-pin plug or just half of it, leaving 4-pin ready to be plugged
