A Question about FarCry 2's ENDING **Major SPOILERS**

So my question is that why did i have to kill my Buddies at the end of the game ? Also Jackal & You die as well. Is this the only ending we can have in Far Cry 2 ?.. everyone dies except the journalist you see with a camera in final cutscene. I chose Marty's character... Would the story & end be any different if i had chosen a different character ?

OMG, Im really sorry dude. That was a spell mistake.. :oops: Looks like you're playing FarCry 2 as well. it says 7 hrs in your Xfire... so did I just spoil the game's story for you ? if so, i apologize:|... that was completely unintentional.

but the Player obviously gets killed in the end. You kill your only friends just to get the diamonds & when you give em to Jackal.. He tells you that you either have to take the battery or the diamonds, but both ways you're f-ed cause you're gonna die anyway. so you clearly die when you choose the battery & cause the explosion. but the whole point of the game was only to kill the jackal but his death isn't even confirmed in the end. not even his identity. was he a good guy anyway ? i didn't actually listen to much of the voice acting as everyone seemed to speak so fast... like they were in a hurry. i guess the story isn't any better than Crysis' ? Lol. but the time when your buddies start shooting at you was one of the most shocking moments i've seen while playing shooters. for some reason i just didn't wanna shoot any of them but i had to.:shock:

i think at the end though that either path you choose- the Jackal didnt do his part of the deal (only the killing part) he must have delieverd the diamonds and run off OR destroyed the explosives another way.

I was kinda disapointed with the ending though - i expected to play on a bit further and i hardly bought any weapons because a lot of the time no one was in the gun house

still i think it was a great game but i dunno if i'll play through it again :S

Lol same here, i too didn't notice that they all were my friends first time. I was carrying an AR-16 rifle & simply shot the Irish buddy from far distance.. didn't even look at his face, thought i was some faction member standing far away. but just when i picked up the diamonds, i got instantly killed as my HP was very low. i still hadn't noticed that i was actually killed by my own buddies. However second time i went close & realized that i had accidently killed my own buddy earlier... then watched him say a few words, & the next thing he shockingly did was take out his shotgun & shoot me along with other buddies.

Ending imo wasn't all that great too, but i had bought almost every weapon that was available later in the game.. so i had alot of fun with many different weapons in my play thru... mostly flamethrower & grenade launcher.. those were awesome. only thing that bugged me were the pathetic pre assigned weapon slots... really annoying!

i havnt finished it but when i choose mikes bar over the church, i was really pissed off to see that even tho i went to mikes bar, all of my friends died and they would come in waves until i died myself .. i hate scripted stuff like that.

That would be really dumb cliffhanger, I wouldn't shoot myself knowing that The Jackal blowed himself up.

But I've watched the ending on Youtube. The Jackal says that both him and the player are "a terminal case" and at least they can do something about it. Does that mean we both have malaria and the treatment didn't work, so we're gonna die anyway? I stopped at 73%, but I've noticed that my disease was at level 2 (previously it was at 0, it went down after the first half of Act I).

If this is the case, than the ending makes sense.

can you play it through again with the stuff you have already baught ??? if so how because every time i press continue i have to watch the credits again after taking the diamonds to the dude.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. If you look at the journal just before the end of the game it says:

"Sickness Level 5: Shakes, sweating, fever. Convulsions are severe. Feel like I could die."

Not all your friends come to kill you... only the only who is with you at the prison, and anyone you abandoned or is missing. The ending was pretty weak... looking back at it.

yeah the ending wasn't great, especially if you've taken ages doing all the sidequests and stuff. I found this great idea about the ending that really sheds new light on it and puts it in a different perspective. I don't know if this is what the writers envisaged but it gives it a spin that I like.

2) I can only assume that you (protanganist, not you personally!) are now terminally ill with malaria. So, it will be rather less painful to either blow yourself to smithereens, or blow your brains out.

One thing I have to say is it does annoy me that people cry and moan about the story of this game, (Not just here, btw.) with that most joyous of phrases, "Its soooooooooo GAAAAAYYYYYYY", I mean, come on, is everybody 15 or something? If people actually listen to what is said by a number of the characters, there is quite a deep storyline behind the game. Unless I'm only seeing it because I want it to be there, that is alway's a possibility! Now I never played Far Cry 1, so I don't know if there is validity to what I've read people saying, that "Far Cry 2 is terrible because it is nothing like Far Cry", or possibly the best one I've read yet, "IF there is a FC3, it SHOULD NOT BE CALLED FAR CRY.. FC2 had nothing to do with 1000pound monsters going ape on you in the woods, because of some mad scientist." Anyway, I hope that answers those two questions.
