well for the start, my opinion is, Classic WoW was good, and TBC is even better, but WotLK ruins everything, and Cataclysm will just add more mess...

as you can see on gamespy review, Classing WoW have 5-star, TBC has 5-star too, but WotLK has only 4.5-star...

I don't play anymore, but I would say vanilla and WotlK are equally great; whilst TBC sucked badly. I hated the areas, and the dungeons. I also disliked how it was mostly concetrated on pvp.

I disagree. Personally, I think TBC was the better expansion. It introduced a ton of new things. Blood Elves and Dranei, Paladins for Horde, Shamans for Alliance, flying mounts, etc. The only thing WotLK added was the Death Knight. And made everything easy mode, though thats either good or bad depending on how you look at it. Personally, I dont' want to have to dedicate my life to a game to get anywhere in it.

TBC is where the game started to really take a turn for the worst.

I don't know... I think people look at vanilla wow with nostalgia. Personally, I couldn't ever go back to vanilla wow after all of the things they added.

The new expansion will be great for the game as it'll bring back the players to the old world. However now you have the problem of TBC areas are all pretty much empty because theres no reason to go there. This is what happens when you make a level based world :\ You really need to take out the levels and let you do the content whenever you want.

All they managed to do was make Alliance and Horde 1:1 so there's nothing unique about either, and shift the majority of the content into endgame. If they added a Vanilla WoW server that relived the timeline, then maybe I'd play again. Otherwise, no thanks. TBC nor the Lich King zones were that special. Couldn't care less about either.

This is a tough question.

I prefer Wrath over vanilla and TBC because of most of the new visual features, weapons landscapes etc etc.

However, i think i prefered playing TBC at max level because it was more fun, raiding felt easier to get into, dungeons too.

I was about level 50 when TBC came out so no experience of level 60 gameplay in vanilla but i think that Vanilla felt (almost) just right.

With the constant balancing act from blizzard it's very hard to say, each patch brings it's advantages and disadvantages.

I'm really looking forward to Cataclysm i have to say, i think WoW needs it.

I prefer vanilla WoW, hands down. And it isn't just for the nostalgia factor. I do know that the game has evolved alot, and I love some of the new features added in, new quest types, double spec (best adition to the game, easily), and stuff. But the game was just alot more fun at vanilla. Lvling took a while, but I liked it actually. Lvl 60 content was actually chalanging. Nothing beats the feeling of taking down Nefarian for the first time, etc. I only got that sort of epic feeling on TBC when I first did Karazhan, and I did actually like the concept of 10 men raids alot, but I still prefer the old 40 man raids. Also, I never saw huge open-world pvp battles like the ones in Tarren Mill and the sorts back in the day.

However, you have to also factor in that in Vanilla wow, things were new (or newer than they are now). So, that alone is going to make vanilla wow seem like it was more fun. I think a lot of people who sit there and claim that vanilla was was more fun when they are strutting around in multiple level 80's kind of miss the whole point of the game being new back then. Also not saying that applies to everyone, but just speaking in general. I had more fun with WoW in the beginning too, but I attribute that more to not having been there, done that.

no longer play but Vanilla wow was the best, you really had to work for your epic gear, now its just kill some other players and get easy epics.

I will say that in terms of the overall world and raids/instances, vanilla WoW wins hands down. The new areas and instances in TBC and WotLK, while interesting, are nowhere near as good as the old ones. In terms of features however, vanilla WoW was seriously lacking compared to what we have now.

Once Horde obtained Paladins and Alliance obtained Shamans, I knew from then WoW was changing into a different game that I may not like in the future. While TBC and WOTLK were solid expansions, the peak of WoW for me personally was during the vanilla period when it was much more hardcore dedicated and satisfying in the PvE space.

Vanilla was much better. It was best right before the introduced the new skills in the Pre-TBC patch. The problems with expansions is A) they made 3 years worth of updated content irrelevent...B) ruined the games balance C) the new green wpns you got from easy quests were better then pretty everything in Van wow. My biggest gripe with TBC was that it was terribly inbalanced. I had a priest main (I played wow since launch) and when TBC came out, Priest were getting steam rolled by everyclass. I stopped playing WoW 6 months later and havent gone back.

It's a tough question to ponder, i have played since vanilla, back then everything was fun, it was all about exploring new things really, leveling was hard. gearing was hard. Getting money was hard until level 60. You felt achieved after everything. There was so much to do it was just fun, now your auto given everything from preBC, I think BC sucked, i mean aliens and a diff planet? swing and a miss blizz, "forget the games story lets make aliens", I like WotLK best i think

Pre-BC was a great time. Now they turned the game into a noob accessible game
