[QUOTE="vfibsux"] Come on dude, I'm a combat vet too.....puff your chest out somewhere else. I think we all know the guy wants realism as far as games go, if he wanted real life he wouldn't be asking about it on the Gamespot PC Games forum.
OP, ArmA for military, RB6 for tactical whatever else you want to call it. Ghost Recon games are great for this too.

I am an 11 year Army veteran from 1989 to 2000. I spent the bulk of my Army career as a 95B MP. I deployed to Desert Shield and Desert Storm on Feb 6 1991. I spent my time in the gulf working a PSD for LTG Calvin Waller the Deputy Commander to "Stormin" Norman Swarczkopf, and after returning to the states I did a tour on the trail at Ft. McClellan, AL with B Co 787TH MP Co. My CO was CPT Samuel Mansburger. During that time I earned a Legion of Merit, a MSM, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf clusters, and a NDSM. I got out as an E-7 SFC. Now after giving you part of my military resume I must say that it feels so good to do so, as I have never done that on the internet and after all these years I really needed to get it out of my system, and "gloat" on it while talking to someone I don't know and will never know. Yeah right........
I weep for the military if this is what the thinking is amongst current active duty members and veterans. To the poster in question. I meant no disrespect. I only asked that you not put it out that you are a "combat vet" for so trivial a reason. If you truly are a "combat vet" then you understand that war and combat is such a terrible and life changing experience that the simple act of talking about it should be treated with the solemn respect it deserves. It's not to be used as a "punch line" or something to gloat over while trying to impress people on an internet forum. Your combat patch means something so you should treat it with respect whenever possible.
One of the things I dislike about the internet is you see more and more young soldiers claiming to be "combat vets". Perhaps you are, but please don't overuse the term and make it like some kind of internet badge of honor. The more you see young troops make this claim the less respect it will garner and become sort of a joke. I say this as I am sure you mean well, but please keep it to yourself and the people who truly know you, not some anonymous internet poster you are trying to impress or prove a point to.:)
Why should he? He went out and fought for this country so he has every right in the world to gloat. If you were a vet you would do the same.
Also you are aware anyone who has fought in a war is a vet? You could be 20 years old and be a vet.
