What motherboard do you use?
What is the processor BUS and FSB on the motherboard?

Why don't you just buy more of that you already have?

There are three main things, number of pins, speed, and type.  You can usually find that in the computer's documentation or manufacturer web site.  For example mines DDR DIMM 184-pin, PC2700.  2700 is the maximum MHz the mother board can take, and DDR DIMM explains how the RAM is utilized.  Definitely check the specs for your computer because there is often a max RAM.  Even if you could get a 2GB stick, your motherboard may only be able to accept 1GB.
