i believe that's the "actual frequency" (i don't know the exact lingo) but yea so i have 1600mhz ram, but in cpu-z it shows as 800mhz...i forgot why that is, but yea so actual frequency is always half of what ?advertised? frequency is (help with lingo ??)

EDIT: quick google search shows RAM clock is what is advertised the most and what your BIOS tells u....RAM frequency show be around half of the RAM clock i believe (Double Data Rate = DDR)

You will probably have to make some adjustments in the BIOS to get your RAM up to 1600 MHz. But you won't see much difference if any between 1333MHz (what your RAM is running at) and 1600MHz. The best bet is to search for systems with similar hardware (cpu & gpu) on the 3DMark site and compare their scores with yours. I'm not sure how well that site actually gauges your setup compared to others with a similar setup.

666.5(667Mhz) x 2 = 1333Mhz. It's DDR witch means an effective speed of Dual Data rate. ( x 2 ) As said before you will need to put the ram manual to 1600 in BIOS.

overclocking RAM is pretty difficult i believe...you really have to jack up voltages and stuff...plus u see pretty much NO performance upgrade...what is your RAM advertised to clock at? if its running below what it should be running then perhaps you can set it to XMP profile in your BIOS

the only reason anyone should overclock ram is to get stability after overclocking your processor. downclock to overclock so you dont fry your ram.

and u shoot us a link to the product on say Newegg or some othe site?

also have you tried going into your BIOS yet and setting it manually at 1600mhz or using the XMP setting (if your mobo supports it) ?

this is pretty common with RAM, sometimes ur mobo will downclock it, it's just part of the process sometimes

The ram speed doesnt matter on 3dmark11. The score is made of graphics and cpu, overclock those and your score will naturally go up. Its plain and simple and the combined score averages out on the p-score performance level score.
