Ok i have a amd athlon 64x2 4000 its a dual processor but i have a question, i wanted to upgrade from this but how would i know what processor i can buy (as in whats compatible with my motherboard)

I dont know what kind of motherboard i have and i dont know how i would install a new processor. for example do i have to get another AMD brand processor? and is it easy to install (i've installed processors before but not dual)

it may sound abit confusing about what im asking but long story short i wanna upgrade my processor what kind COULD i get thats compatible

The first thing you need to determine is your processor's socket. The Athlon X2 4000+ could be a socket 939, or socket AM2. Use Everest to determine your processor socket and motherboard info (like chipset version and possibly model). To upgrade your processor, you will have to find one compatible with your motherboard. It WILL be a AMD processor...hint, hint. Single core, or duel core, or quad core processors all install the same way. If you don't know how to install a processor, READ THIS. Also read any instructions that come with your new proc. ;)

You'll need a good video card to play that game as well. If you don't have one yet, don't blow all of your upgrade money on just the processor. ;)
