I just preordered the Kane edition of the game and i'm really excited about it now to answer some of your questions.

There's 3 races or factions

GDI. Global Defense Initative : is defending the "Blue" zones against invaders or more commonly Nod. The GDI is described as Slow moving Powerhouse in the battles.

Nod. Brotherhood of Nod : is the race which lives in the "yellow" zones and are constantly fighting the GDI for the blue zone.

Scrin. ... scrin : We know little about this race but to describe it the best i can , the scrin is alien invaders out after the "Red" zones for all the tiberium. The scrin will have the air superority in this game.

The graphics is based on the engine of Generals but improved by all the effects . One effect you will see almost instantly is the Heat-effect.

The Game is worth the buying!

With the new files CNC 3 is using the game really won't be moddable at all really until the games SDK comes out and that will likely take a few months, hell I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come out this year.

If you really want water combat and mods Supreme Commander is what you want as the game has a great deal of water combat and air combat to go with the land, something you rarely see in RTS games. The mod community is also in full swing!

Just look at the Supreme Commander main forum, there are already nearly 900 threads regarding mods in the mod section! And that boards only been up for about a month now! Compare that to the CnC board were that board has been up for nearly a year and only has about 100 threads in the mod section with most of them talking about modding for other CnC games!
