Well, ive played on my 360 and it seems to have A LOT less lag than my pc, like the only time i lag is when its terrible lag, but on the pc i lag all the time. would it be because im using a wireless router for my pc (though its right next to my comp), or is it because i play 32-50 man servers on the pc while i dont on the 360?

and are there any other sources of lag (that has to do with connections)?

If the servers you're playing on with the PC games (even if they are 50 man servers) have a good ping, you should be fine. It's definitely because you're playing with a wireless connection.

I tried to play online with my PC through a wireless connection and I got so much lag in COD4 that I couldn't stand it. I moved my cable modem and router to my office and had a direct connection from the PC to the router, and I haven't had a second of lag ever since.

so pc to router should be better than pc to the same router's wireless? its definately doable but i dont like wires that much :P

oh ya, my family may also be on at the same time but it seems i experience the same lag both when they are on and when they are not

1. Wifi will cause latency and lag problems. 2. The more players the more data your connection has to cope with

Do you have your TV on while you're playing games on your PC? Static from TVs screws up wireless routers.

If that is the case, start turning your TV off or get your router away from your TV.

I use a wifi connection and I can play with 0 lag, ping in the 5-45 range and download speeds of over 1mb/sec. Wifi can work great.

Ooo this is a good time for me to ask this question! Well basically I have Quest DSL, and before, I used to play on my mom's computer which was connected directly to the modem. I got pretty good pings (60-70) and so not really any lag at all. Well now I've got my own kickass computer and with it I bought a wireless router. So basically my modem is physically connected to my wireless router, but I have a wireless adapter to get internet for my computer. So there's about 2 walls and about 40 feet between my wireless router and my comp. Now here's my question. When I'm playing, about every 1 minute, I'll get a huge spike of lag that'll like freeze the screen for about 1-2 seconds, then return to normal. I was talking to some ppl on CS:S about it and once they found out that I had a wireless router, they said it was prolly due to packet loss. They said that making a physical connection between the comp and the router would fix it. Now it's going to be a biiiig hassle to get a wired connection between the two, so before I do that, I want some more opinions on what is causing the problem and if this will really fix it. Thx in advance!
