It's not really an RTS. Picture it like an RTS where you control only one character that has 4 abilities unique to that character and 2 optional spells from a spell pool. You go around trying to kill npc minions to get gold and turrets to advance towards the enemy base. In between all this, you can fight enemy characters to try and get more gold. Your gold is spent on items that will enhance your skills. MOBA is a simple to learn, hard to master kind of genre.

It's free, try it and see for yourself, it's not an MMO and not an RTS either, it does have some RTS elements, but it's mostly RPG, with some traces of RTS combined with some tower defense (that is mostly what the RTS is about, tower defense) in an arena format.

It's a 5v5 game where you play as 1 hero, watch out for towers, hide behind creeps (neutral monsters) that you also kill from the opposing team to earn experience to unlock skills and skill ranks/levels and gold that you use to buy items.

The game is fairly noob friendly, the matchmaking system places you with other new characters (unless someone makes a second account ofc). There is a tutorial in game and most of the champs are fairly intuitive. One thing that makes the game fairly hard for new players is that the champions change every week until you can buy some with in game money. You can't really get set on one character however it also forces you to learn the game.

The community is slowly taking a dump but just try to find a couple buds to play with.

The game is very user friendly and shouldn't take to long to get the hang of.

It is fairly easy to pick up and play. Your goal in the game is to destroy the enemy base. In order to do that you have to take down towers, kill the opposing team, and farm up gold via the killing of minions. It is a 5v5 game where teamwork is necessary in order to win. Probably one of my favorite pc games.
