Hey guys! Well I've got a relativley weak rig but I'm just wondering how it would run some modern games like fallout 3 or empire total war (not crysis). Anyway here are the specs, would appreciate opinions on it, thanks.

CPU: Intel E7400 core 2 duo 2.80GHz

Ram: 2GB DDR2

Windows Xp 32-bit

Ati radeon 2400HD 512mb

If you just upgraded the graphics card you could play those games pretty well. With that card however most modern games would not run that great. Rest of the machine seems fine though.

What he said ^^, i play empire with my laptop atm which is a ati radeon 3400, 2.5ghz core 2 duo, 3gbs and i get medium settings 2aa, but it can lag during 2000+units battles and a bit during multiplayer but if youre ok playing with low then it should work. Haven't played fallout3 so dunno about that one.

Maybe go for an ATI Radeon HD 4830 or HD 4850, both of those cards will turn that machine into gaming bliss.

But I dont really have the money for a new GPU, would I still be able to play games like cod4 fallout3 etc on around low-mediumish? I have an ATi overdrive option on my control center for the GPU should I use that to OC?

Throw $150-200 into a GTX250 or 4850 and you can max most of those games. Your CPU is pretty strong.

Put in a better graphics card, i think you could save on the CPU and OC to save cash for a better GPU, it's the GPU thet'll be the limitation so just stepping down the CPU and upping the GPU (nevermind OCing) should give you better performance.

You GPU limits you, but you should still be able to play them at mid-low on lowish resolutions.
