I must say I know nothing when it comes down to surroundsounds, and I do not know what to look for since I'm gonna have the sound mostly for games.

Got any good tips?

What I do know of is that Iäll have 5.1.

Thx in advance.
Heavy.

They arn't really very good. If you care about music at all, not a good choice. For games only, they'd be fine.

Yeah...gotta know a lot more info. Give me a budget and I'll work out something for you. 100 bucks is a LOT different from 1k...1K would get you something real instead of cheap a$$ computer speakers from Best Buy or whatever. Expecially over the "expensive" 200+ "computer speaker" systems.

I think he just needs good gaming PC speakers, not a home theatre system speaker set. That would be overkill for a desktop. You're sitting 2-3 feet away from your PC. Why would you need 1k worth of speakers on your PC desktop? That's kinda silly.

Well, all PC speakers basically suck (jmo), thats why... But if all he wants is a surround sound system for games, they will do.

They can't be that bad, unless you're an audiophile. I have a pair of bose companions (the cheap ones) and they sound great. Then, if he really wants great sound, he'll have to invest in a dedicated sound card.

http://nl.europe.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=789&product=15774 for a nice cheap 5.1 set.

I have it as well, but I recommend also having a Creative X-fi Soundcard. Doesn't matter who you are or what you do, you need an X-fi, trust me. :D
