Here are my new laptop specs, please give advise......Thanks in advance.

Ok here it goes.....M17x

Dual 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M GT-my thoughts, how much could i sell both for and look at a 8800m or a set of 8800m?

Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5GHz (6MB Cache 800MHz FSB)-should i automatically upgrade to this or would it be smart to get the T8100 and sell then upgrade?

1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz – 2 x 512MB-THis will obviosly be replaced whats the best 4gb ram for under 150?

OK, ome more thing is this worth it?

Intel Turbo Memory (1GB) – Accelerate Data Transfer Speed

Will it help me?

SO the final price $2599, free shipping and 5% off.

Like said how much could i get by selling gpu's. processor etc to ensure i get the best system cheapest price?

Do you really have to get a laptop. I'm not sure on the graphics card capabilities that may be a big let down.

Anyway, I would go on alienware and config something for 2000$ on a 15" but it lags too much.

I agree with above laptops aren't great for gaming better off with a desktop.

If you are looking to game don't get a laptop unless you absolutely need one.

Ugh. For that much money you could get a cheap laptop AND a better specced desktop for games. And what's this about selling and upgrading your parts? You might be able to upgrade them by sending the thing back to Alienware, but you're not going to be able to sell the parts that you replace. People don't buy laptop parts because there is no DIY market for laptops like there is for desktops.

Why does it cost so much? For that price you can buy a super desktop gaming PC which would destroy that current build.

I agree. But the reason it costs so much is because:

1. it's Alienware

2. it's a laptop

and we all know that Alienware + gaming laptop = a lot of $

Fifth... oh wait I can't do that.

For internet laptop (don't trow the stones right away) I suggest the ibook G4. Ok, it's not as fast as a windows. Ok it cost 500$. Ok it has to be used. But, not having to use a antivirus and get a HUGE amount of applications is quite satisfying.

Hell no on that. You can get an M15x with an 8800m GTX, T9300, 200GB 7200rpm hdd, etc. for ~$2560. That's what I got and I can't wait to get it.

Because you can only get SLI on the 17", which sucks. I'd love the 17" if it didn't have SLI. 1 8800M GTX is more powerful than 2 8700GTs, so that's why I went with the 15".

It shipped with an issue where anything on the screen looked misaligned, text on anything looked the most obvious. it was rediculously bad. (i have taken into consideration i got a fluke, because i dont see how anyone would have settled for the way it looked) and when i called up for support, it was the worst most drawn out thing ive experienced on the phone. their techs (at the time about 3 years ago) didnt know anything, it was painfully obvious they were reading off a screen the questions to trouble shoot it, i know because i had to call a few times and and went through alot of the same questions in almost the same order each time as i remember it. they refused to allow me to just send it back to them to look at it even if i paid shipping to them and back, and the guy had me taking apart the laptop to gain access to some plugs under the keyboard to see if they were seated right. they were fine, but because i didnt have a jewlers set of screwdrivers on hand, i had to cancel one of the phone sessions to gain the right tools to follow the steps he was going to walk me through. I did everything i was told be these guys to no prevail, and FINALLY they said they would take it in and so on, but after about a solid week of BS i just sold it for real cheap to a co-worker who could careless about the screen cause it was going to be used for programming at work only, and it was dirt cheap. Alienware failed on all fronts for me and im sure plenty of people have had a great experience with them (because thats how things go) i will never go back.

Im not trying to talk you out of it by any means, just throwing out another company who i have delt with personally also, and have just ordered another PC from them again, and i have delt with their tech department also. The tech guys there are VERY smart and have no need to read a script off a monitor becasue they work with PCs, I had an issue with a graphics card on a desktop and in about 15 min on the phone with them, they setup an overnight delivery of a brand new graphics card before they had the old one. paid for shipping both ways and were great on the phone (plus they speak clear english, make sure you have a spanish to english dictionary around when on the phone with Alienware, if its the same company as 3 years ago)

All im saying is, check em out if your going to spend top dollar on something you really want to work right, and if **** happens, your taken care of on the back end.

this is my experinece, others will vary accordingly.
