My boyfriend and I just recently bought the game "Guild Wars"... we have been looking for a fun game to play together for awhile now. We didn't realize however that we could not play it together online because the access key will only work one time.. so now we are stuck with a multi-player (online) game which we can't even play together :(. I was wondering how we can go about getting another access key so that he can sign up too. If there is ANY way that we can get another access key or even make one online... or buy one for cheap online. It's so strange because it's a multi-player online game which you can play with friends but how can you do that when only one person is allowed to sign up? We would greatly appreciate any help you can give us with this problem. Thank you so much!

God Bless,

Danielle

buy another copy? Unlike MMO's where they charge a subscription fee, the only way Guild Wars makes money is from the sale of its software. If each copy could be installed and used simultaneously by lots of people they wouldn't sell anywhere near as many copies.

I am afraid the only way to do so Danielle would be to buy another copy of the game.

That is how pretty much every online game works, especially ones that save characters and such particular to each player as Guild Wars does. The only way to get another access key is to buy another copy. Honestly, that is pretty much what you are buying with Guild Wars anyway: an access key. I'm pretty sure you can download the whole game without even buying it; you just wouldn't be able to log in.

You can buy it online directly from their store within the game client itself, which probably is not cheaper than whatever store you got it from. Here is a link to their online store. (There is also one within the game client, but if you are making a new account, it will just direct you to this site anyway.)

Oh, and this is somewhat unrelated, but you might also give Dungeon Runners a try. It's a free game and you can play online co-op. The catch (and you knew there had to be one) is that you can't equip some of the items that drop unless you're a paid subscriber, but it's quite playable without paying. Probably what made me think of this is that the game is also from NCsoft, the same company that publishes Guild Wars.

I was listening to the Rebel FM podcast the other day, and John Davison mentioned Runes of Magic and Perfect World International as a couple of well regarded free to play MMOs. The former is new, and supposed to be reamarkably close to World of Warcraft (don't know myself, as I have only just downloaded it), and the latter has over 50 (yes fifty) million subscribers around the world (mainly China, but the US version launched last year and has over 1 million users already).

If you try them let us know what you think.

Take care
