I'd like to activate my games on Steam, such as my old Sims 2 games and other ones such as AoE, but when I put in thye code it says it's invalid.......what do I do?

The code is correct, but it's showing up as invalid...is there anything I can do?

Cheers! :)

Hm... I don't know why that wouldn't work. The best advice I can offer you is to ignore my post.

Thanks, made me laugh, are you one of those guys that post random stuff just to reach lvl 5 or w/e to be able to post reviews?

As for the TCs problem, you probably already read it :P you can't register anything you want, just a few games and by the looks of it, chances are that not a single one of the games you want to register, except the ones you mentioned, would work.

You can't just add any old game all willy nilly to Steam. They have to be made with Steamworks or specifically say on the box that you register with Steam. This is because Steam isn't some mystical game faerie granting everyone's gaming desires, and if they let everyone just add whatever game they wanted, using up Steam's bandwidth to download it and such, they wouldn't be making any money. You can add a shortcut to your other non-Steam games in Steam by going to the Games>Add a non-Steam game menu option. All this will be is a shortcut, without any of the other added benefits of Steam.

Yup, The Sims 2 isn't supported on Steam. For a list of supported games, go here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

That's why it's not working.... Also, how can you add friends? I've tried but it says I need a Steam game first.

You need to either activate a game, buy a game, or receive a game as a gift from some one. And if you don't want to do that, you can tell people to add you instead (that is if you have some other way of contacting them).

only certain cd-key styles can be added to steam.. even if the game is on steam it doesnt mean it matches

painkiller for example isnt recognized by steam as a game you can add, but overdose and ressurection are

rainbow 6 vegas 2 can be added but not R6V1

red alert 3 is another case.. dow 1-> dark crusade cant be added but soulstorm can.

there are several cases of this.

There are very few games that you can actually add on steam without buying them online or having steam come required with the retail package. You can add shortcuts within your steam interface, but you can't link most of them to your account.
