I don't know what exactly to make of this but I sincerely hope that this isn't Activision trying to force their way into Blizzard and basically doing what they did to Infinity Ward and the Guitar Hero franchise.

What are your thoughts?

Coming soon to World of Warcraft!

-Tired of earning your epic equipment? Well now you can buy it via microtransactions! High-tier sets starting at $69.99!

-Sick of lagging behind in raids because you dont have the latest addons? Well now with Actiblizzard.net all mods and addons are forbidden! Now even your stupid 7 year old cousin can play, and fail, with your mature raid group!

-Due to recent changes, all patches will be called Downloadable Content, aka DLCs, and we will charge a minor fee of 14.99 to gain access to stuff we should do, and have done, for free. We feel this fee is justified because we can provide higher quality stuff, even though we fired a bunch of folks at Blizzard and exported the work to Korea for 1 dollar an hour

-Healing is now removed. For balance.

-Due to popular demand, there will now be a murloc festival held in every settlement. My polls tell me you guys like Murlocs, right? Well now you can be around them all the time!

Sincerely,

Bobby Kotick

Tbh even blizzard can get their ass handed to them by the community. If they start to do stupid things. I just hope Activision remember that before they start to **** out bad ideas.

It wasn't posted on the 1st, but I somehow doubt this piece of "news". Might be true or maybe not, I don't want it to be true, but it's just too fishy. IF Activision-Blizzard wanted to keep it hidden it wouldn't be out so fast and at least Blizzard has extreme rules for confidentiality so, somehow it doesn't seem right.

If Kotick says it's a good thing, black clouds are approaching.

Someone really needs to fill his head with lead.

Mograine

eh i dont think its soo bad. like look on the positive side.. no more bad destructions of storyline by the completely smashed development teams.

Ah, Activision has been controlling Blizzard before this and if you don't believe then see the three Starcraft 2; I know Blizzard alone wouldn't have accepted that but Kotick told them to do that. Now with this he will control more the Blizzard division than before. Bad news indeed, it seems that we will start seeing alot of WoW expansions and alot of Starcraft and Diablo spinoffs plus DLC for those games.

Yeah as usual...websites changing the words to make it sound like the end of the world.

After reading the original article I'm not that worried, yet.

Would you drop it already with the Starcraft thing? because you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. As for Diablo 3 and SC 2 DLCs I doubt they'll have any as for paying for maps and mods that's not for Blizzard that's for the community that wants to earn something from their hard work (of course Blizz would gain a few % for hosting and such, but they wouldn't get rich from that).

"This is an important change as it will allow me, with Thomas, to become more deeply involved in areas of the business where I believe we can capture great potential and opportunity," Kotick said in the employee memo.

"Blizzard Entertainment rounds out the fourth unit but interestingly, Blizzard's Mike Morhaime now reports directly to newly appointed chief operating officer Thomas Tippl, who in turn reports to Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.

"This is an important change as it will allow me, with Thomas, to become more deeply involved in areas of the business where I believe we can capture great potential and opportunity," Kotick said in the employee memo."

edit : Someone bet me to it but this is really some scary sh*t right here....even if its indeed an April Fool's joke...its still a frightening scenario for all freedom loving gamers all over :D

There are certain things that you do as jokes, announcing a new CEO is not something you do as a prank due to the fact it is monumental news and can immediately effect a companies value.

I don't like this at all. Usually these types of restructures are to maximize profits from the developers. This doesn't sit well with Blizzard's "done when it's done" philosophy, and it's only a matter of time before some exec steps in and pulls the plug on what's worked so well for them over the years.

It was on the cards from the day they signed up to "merge" with Activision. When a publisher tells a software company they'll give them full control of their output, they're lying.
