The porn. Like to see someone on XBOX live download some quality Guatemalan midget on Alpaca porn.bogaty
The 360 is useful for streaming porn so you can watch it on your TV, unless you have a TV with VGA inputs. anyway other good things are more/better games, more powerful hardware = better graphics higher framerates, OS's were you can do alot more than just watch videos and stuff like that, software for almost anything you would want to do.....the list goes on
If one games internet service is down, you can go play another.
If Xbox Live is down you can't update any of your games or play any of them online. Hell, I can't even play my Xbox Original I bought. These are the reasons why I'm buying a PC. Only one more paycheck away.
if I ever get lonely in my mother's basement I can make a topic on how great it is to be a PC gamer and 50 people will post the same things over and over againsmerlus
hahahahahha
Its cheaper. Gaming PC costs 1000 bucks, self built or premade. Games cost about 40 bucks average, and new games come down in price quickly. Console games release at 60 bucks and might come down to 55 after a year.
Visuals. Look at Crysis, nuff said. Gears of War PC > Gears of War 360
Controls. We dont need autoaim, and if youre good you can headshot at will. A 5-button mouse can do as much as a 360 controller; combine that with a keyboard and you have practically unlimited possibilites. Oh and I dont think you would be able to play Falcon 4.0 on a console with a gamepad.
Games. A lot more diversity. Are there many indy games for console? No, maybe an occasional gem from Japan or something but thats it.
Mods. I cant count how many hours Halflife gave me, but its in the thousands im sure. And just look at Oblivion, its like a whole new game with mods.
Online play. We have been playing games with 150-person caps for years now. PS3 owners were excited when Resistance got 40-player games. Too bad the servers for console are only capable of running well with 16 players max.
Technical support. If something breaks, we can often fix it ourselves. We can also upgrade at will so a 5-year old PC can compete with a current-gen console.
Sorry, didnt mean to bash consoles but it just naturelly floats that way when asked why I like PC gaming.
Games like Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.foxhound_fox
Oh come on! Halo is just as good as those games! (ridiculously sarcastic tone)
Every thing to do with pc gaming is just better. All of the reasons have been mentioned above. I just felt like posting.

nah that's ok... bash away but try to thing about what you say before you post it.
cheaper? $300 console plus $7 to rent a game beats $1000 machine and $40 for a brand new game
Visuals: can't argue this one except if you want to pair it with your first choice... if you want good visuals on PC you're not actually caring about what's the cheapest.
Controls: console doesn't need autoaim either so there's always an option to turn it off and adjust senstivity. analog sticks are great for precision walking, running in games like psychonaughts (where it's better to buy a joystick for thereby once again proving your first post wrong) or a game like metroid prime or Soul Caliber (two high quality games where there's really nothing like them on pc which goes against...)
Games: flight sims, rts, adventure games... every genre that "isn't" good on consoles sees it's share of releases on consoles every year.... can't say the same thing for PC's and fighting games, extreme sports games, boxing games, party games, light gun games, japanese games.. and speaking of indy games, you must have missed XBLA and PSN.
Mods... can't top you there... that truly is a joy of Pc gaming
Online play: beats paying $50 a month for XBL or dealing with all the cheaters that pop up after a while on PSN.
Technical Support: If something breaks, there goes the internet, data, music, videos, games and it pretty much makes a monitor useless. a $1000 machine is rendered useless. A console breaks, if you're a true gamer, you have another one to play while that one goes in for repairs, if not you can always watch tv, watch dvds or go on the internet.
sorry but most of those things listed aren't advantages but I dont have to worry about most of those because i'm a strange person that has a PC and a few consoles and just enjoys games. even if i'm wrong and al of those things you listed are wonderful and PC gaming is so wonderous, that didn't stop consoles from having a GOTY game that will never see light of day on PC's and is one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time.
what's the use of having the best of the best if you can't play all the best games?

Actually its not bad once you learn about PCs or know a friend who knows them. In the past three years i have had 2 majour issues go wrong that meant my PC wouldn't boot up, but was fixed within 24 hours (had to buy a new Graphics card and the PSU). Now with a console that wouldn't happen. It could take a while to get it fixed.
Plus any true gamer would have 2 PCs :) and a few consoles
A high end PC is three times faster then any console. Alot of RTS games are being put on the x360. The developers have to set a lower population cap to keep the frame rates high.
We also get games like Crysis. Do you think any console will be able to run it? I dont think so, unless someone want play it at 5 fps.
nah that's ok... bash away but try to thing about what you say before you post it.

This only counts for the US. In europe you can't rent games in general and a 360 + XBL+ 1 game would cost me around $700,-. Every new game I buy would cost me around $84~100. A new PC would cost me around $1400 and the games would start around $50~60 and drop down to $20~40 after half a year. If I buy my games digitally, I'm even better off because of the extreme low dollar. If you are an European, pc gaming never looked this good before.

It's called aim assist, every console game has it including the wii. The movements just aren't precise enough to match that of the mouse. If the controller would really use the same mechanism as for pc games, they wouldn't be playable.

He's not talking about FPSs or RTSs. Platformers, fighting games and adventure games like Tomb Raider are better with a controller. Driving games too imo. That's fact (well, "fact", unless you're allergic to gamepads like most PC-only gamers, lol), just like mouse=superior precision in shooters. You could use a controller with a PC, so I'm not bashing PC's here or anything...
Mrbojangles, if you're skilled enough, you could make headshots with a controller too. I'd actually go as far as say that it requires far more skill to pull that off in Xbox-Halo than in PC-HalfLife. :) And we've had the whole cost of platforms discussion before, so I'm not going there again. :) I just want to say that for a tech-junkie like me a PC costs a lot more money than say 1000$... I could get a decent 32" HDTV for the amount of money I paid for my monitor.

please do tell what was the name of the last turn based strategy on ps3 or 360
Well I'd Say That being A PC Gamer, U Can Make Your Own Models For Caetain Games And Even Make ur Own Scenarios.
And U CAn't Ignore The Fact That The PC Is The Origin Of All Games

ok so you found a sub genre that hasn't been made on a next gen system yet... where are PC's rhythm games, light gun games,
i'm still winning 2 - 1

that's a best case scenario, I've had 5 computers since i've been out of the military and on one of them it was the actual slots on the motherboard for the RAM that went bad. Sony customer support said there's no way that could happen, I brought it to the LAN shop at the local college where my friend's mother works and they just said it must be my RAM and loaned me some new sticks and that didn't stop the crashing and nobody believed me that it was the actual slots. so i rebuilt the computer using all the same parts except for a new motherboard and that worked. too bad it took a few weeks to try to get a professional opinion that didn't help any.
on another one I had the PSU short out pretty much frying the hard drive, if i didn't back up my things on an external, i would have lost a ton of data but anyways that wasn't a quick fix. i knew my PSU was dead, my hard drive was dead, but i didn't know how far the damage was and had to test out everything else to make sure it still worked.
when my 360 crapped out, a 45 minute phone call, and about 10 working days later, I had a new 360. sure it took a lot longer to get that back but it was stress free. I still had a PC and a Wii for back up.
hence my belief that if you own consoles and PC's you have the best of both worlds

Thats also a best case scenario. My 360 got the three-red lights and that's all she wrote. I didn't have a warranty and I couldn't afford $127 bucks so I tossed it.
PCs always have problems...always. But, unlike a console you can fix ALL of them yourself. Mobo goes bad; buy another one. Not enough juice: Buy another PSU. As a whole parts cost a lot but buy themselves they're relatively cheap. The 8800GTX which is about three billion times more stronger than the PS3 graphical capabilities costs a little less than the PS3.
It may become obsolete within the year but that doesn't mean it won't be playing games on Max settings for two years to come. You have to realize that devs have to sell these games and making them run only on the best cards is not profitable. So, that's why it's not a huge worry when a new graphics card or other part comes out.

also since i don't know what you mean by light gun games so, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_light_gun_games#PC
also, by rythm games you mean guitar hero types of games ?

nah i think it would be a subgenre because you could also break rpgs into turn based or real time but they are both RPG's just like turn based and real time are both strategy.
that list of light gun games is funny because the last one made was in 2005... 2005 is pretty much also the last time consoles saw a turn based strategy game...
Games cost $50.
You could do something about technical issues.
GoodkupoBan
Circuit City sells new games for $40 for like the first week :P
PC gaming beats console gaming, imo. Although I have all last-gen consoles, they are largely untouched, except for my PS2 for Guitar Hero. The only issue with PC gaming that console is able to do is local multiplay (ie, in Halo, you can play with your friend right next to you, you simply can't do that in PC games) and party and rhythm games. Oh, and fighting games. But PC is still definitely better. Easy, free MP, excellent graphics, mods, and easy control with the mouse.goth_bacon
If you had two orignal xbox controllers, a soldering iron and two USB's you can easily make two game pads in about half and hour. Me and my brother made one which works perfectly with Gun on my laptop. So in theroy it could work with some games.

lol, actually just because they have strategy in them doesn't mean rts and tbs are same. they are so different from each other. by your logic i can combine light gun games and fps in one categoy called shooters
actually 360 doesn't even has any light gun games ! so how come you say its a strong point of consoles ? do you need to combine all the consoles to match genres on pc ?
PC Gamers with the right attitiude will eventually secure of chick (or bloke) of significant quality.

Actually, I don't think they last more than 5 years. Then you gotta get a new one :?

LOL, seriously, if you don't know what the advantages are already then I don't know why you'd be on the PC gaming board besides making a topic saying "hey guys I'm thinking about PC gaming what should I do to start?".
Gotta love that "I live in my mothers basement" stereotype too :?
Free games, musics, movies
MMORPGs most of them are PC only
Mouse + Keyboard
Internet with no XBOX Live fee thingy

I can use my PC to do other things beside playing game (Office, Photoshop, Sony Vegas, Musics,etc...)

actually since you wanted to use wiki to prove your point, i will use it to prove mine... search strategy games and under the video game section it breaks it down into Real Time and Turn Based
I could be talking about the Wii or i could throw in the 360 too. because if we're talking about cheaper, you can buy both those systems for $550
