I'm a massive fan of adventure games!

Lucasarts games like Grim Fandango and Indiana Jones are fantastic and i was very disappointed to see the decline of these games in recent times.

I know there are still some quality adventure titles coming out such as Broken Sword and Runaway, but i've slighty lost myself in the whole advenutre scene.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any really good adventure games out now or upcoming?

I would check out the demos to Overclocked: A History of Violence, and The Experiment. Both are good for Adventure games (I am not a huge fan of the genre).

If you haven't played them, Sam and Max season 1 and 2 are both awesome, and upcoming is A Vampyre Story (by some former LucasArts types) and Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People.

I'm also keeping an eye on So Blonde, but it seems to be in limbo right now.

Syberia 1 & 2, The Longest Journey, and Dreamfall are all good choices.

A Vampyre Story does look interesting, I just hope they get some updated info for it soon.

Sam and Max Seasons 1 + 2, Jack Keane, and The Longest Journey range from good to fantastic. (TLJ being the best, and JK being the "least good".)

the only one i've played lately is Sherlock Holmes: the Awakening, which is pretty good - i reviewed it if you;re interested - i've not looked but it's probably still the most recent one - the review i mean, not the game, there's another SH out now, but it's not supposed to be as good

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Ive looked into all the games mentioned and i have to say Vampyre Story looks very intresting indeed!

I had the old Sam and Max game on Scummv but as i said i lost touch with the whole adventure scene and never even knew of the sequels! :(

I heard from a friend they are only available on download and in episodes?!

Is there a CD Version available and if so does it contain the whole season or like i said is it in episodes?

Thanks

Season 1 is available on disc at the moment. It's fair to assume that Season 2 will be available on disc at some point, too. Both Seasons 1 and 2 (as well as all the individual episodes) are available through Steam, the Telltale store and I think they're on Gametap, too.

If you want to try before you buy, Episode 4 of Season 1 is available as a free download - sort of like a demo, only it's a three hour long demo!

As for them being episodic, yes. Each Season contains five episodes that last between two and four hours. Each episode is a standalone story, but there is also an overarching storyline to tie everything together - so while you may be playing five different episodes, they are really like five chapters of a book rather than five separate games.

You might be interested to know that Season 3 has already been confirmed.

I think dreamfall (the sequal to the longest journey) is the best adventure game I have played the last few years.

AM I to assume you haven't played Psychonauts?? Because if you liked Grimfandango you should definitly check out Psychonauts. It not an adventure game as such, as it takes on a bunch of platforming elements, but the story, the wit, the atmosphere and the charm are all there. Play it if you havent, but im assuming you have...
