Hi there, im buying a barebone bundle and need to install the hard drive and optical drive. I was just wondering, will these drives come with everything i need like the right connectors etc? The hard drive is a S-ATA 2 and the optical is an IDE. Im assuming they do, but i would like some advice. Also when i install these drives, what do i set the IDE to (i.e. do i set it to master or what?). Another thing, the S-ATA drive doesnt have any settings like the IDE does it? Thanks very much, Sean

It should do, if not the cables aren't much so you can easily buy some. They might not, you could always buy some to be sure, they are only a few pounds/ dollars.

Screws and cables should come with the case (or barebones kit). You probably won't have to worry about messing with the master/slave drive options on the optical drive. It should just be on master by default, and if its not it just a matter of moving a jumper. And you're correct SATA doesn't use master/slave options.

It should find the HDD automatically. The only thing you might have to do with your BIOS when you first set up the computer is change around the boot order so that it boots from your optical-drive first (instead of the HDD first) so you can install Windows.

I still use IDE, and it detects master by default, and trust me, my rig is nothing short of ancient, seriously, the aztecs would use this.

Could you link the barebones kit? I'm curious as to what the specs are.

That's a decent barebones actually. I also live in the UK, you might want to try Ebuyer.com or Overclockers.co.uk for some better barebones, I use Ebuyer myself. Good barebones system though.

I'm not quite sure, seeing as it's a barebone system. I guess you could RMA it in the first 10 days or so, but since your putting things into it yourself, I doubt they'd give you a full 3 year warranty or something.
