Well if you can run AoE3 you can run Dawn of War, which I think is the better game. More innovative gameplay. If you're into the sci-fi thing you can't beat it. Including the 2 expansions there are 7 totally unique races, with supposedly more on the way. I have heard that Dawn of War has the most active online community of any RTS. I'm assuming you've already got Warcraft3? If not just go buy that immediately.
I liked AOM better than AOE3.It has better story and better gameplay but Warcraft 3+Expansion is better than both AOE3&AOM.If you havent played warcraft 3 yet then i strongly recommend you to play it first and also it dosent require powerfulpc like AOE3.
I thought Rise of Legends was excellent, although it does tax my graphics card(geforce 6200), when things get hectic. DoW: Dark Crusade was another great one.
