I was a big fan of the AOE/mythology franchise and would love to see another one. How do you feel about these games as an RTS or just in general? Would you like to see them make another one?

I've been dreaming of Age of Mythology 2 since elementary school. Unfortunately, it's a dream that will go unrealised. With Micro$oft closing down Ensemble and going full console mode, I don't thing they'll ever release a true PC game ever again.

Never say never. Look at TF2 or Diablo 3 or... Duke Nukem, heh.
Honestly I don't know if I would or not. Modern RTS games have gotten so complex that I'm afraid I really wouldn't care for them to even make another one. Admittedly, AOE: Online is pretty good, but doesn't hold my attention like AOE2 did specifically because of the non-campaign nature of it.
I really liked playing through AOE2, controlling actual people from history and following their exploits.
are modern RTS games really that much ahead of AOE3? hmmm. you would think that the franchise who caved the way for rts games would be top dog.Honestly I don't know if I would or not. Have you even played AoE online? It's a much better game than 3 was imo and you can have plenty of fun without spending a dimeEvz0rz
This I can agree with. While I was all right with AoE 3, I felt it was the second weakest game out the entire AoE series. Having played in the beta up to lvl 37 and doing a playthrough as an Egyptian faction now, I can safely say that AoE Online is my second favorite and for a F2P game is extremely fun. And I don't find much enjoyment with games that were designed to be F2P.
On topic, I wouldn't mind seeing an AoE4, but I imagine that anything beyond the gunpowder age would be too alien for the series. If they were doing something along the lines of a remakeof AoE2 i'd be down for it. Though preferably, I wouldn't want a single continous story like in AoE3(immensely disliked that in AoE3), would prefer to go back to the more historical campaigns.

I don't mean better or more advanced, but just more complex. For example, Red Alert 3 with the shape shifting units, Company of Heroes with the command points, and the crazy shape shifting HQ in C&C4. These are different developers sure, but it seems to be a popular thing to add more complex gameplay. I haven't played Starcraft 2 so I don't know how much it's changed.[QUOTE="guynamedbilly"]

[QUOTE="James161324"]Have you even played AoE online? It's a much better game than 3 was imo and you can have plenty of fun without spending a dime I love it, because of the art style, but no, you can't go anywhere "without spending a dime" and it asks for quite a lot of dimes, personally I'll never buy anything related to it, I'd rather buy a 50€ game and beefy expansions for 20€ later, but charging 20€ for better units and units for other factions (what, there are like 5 or 6 packs? 100-120€ ), that's just outrageous and it has limitations because of the kind of game they made.Yes i want my aoe4 not some f2p mmo crap

You can have some fun with it, but if you're still at it after 5 or 6 hours then you're pretty much wasting time on it since you'll go nowhere.
I'd love a sequel to these series, who knows, there might be one sooner or later, MS doesn't bother making a name for themselves in PC gaming (like they used to), but they do support a title or two every few years.
